Post by: gsb876 on May 15, 2007, 07:01:55 AM
On Ebay as we speak,

I was offered this car fresh from Japan when i was still looking for a rx7,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-VEILSIDE-MAZDA-RX7-TWIN-TURBO-SHOW-CAR_W0QQitemZ290115395002QQihZ019QQcategoryZ18211QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Nice power figures were quoted at the time of approx 490bhp or so,

nice ducting for the cold air intake, very sweet. Looks like its still on twins so I guess it must have two monster twins on it. Crazy.

some nice bits, not really to my taste though.

i like the way they say full veilside including mirrors etc,   when the rear light cover, mirrors, headllights, diffuser etc are Re-Am.

as well as that i would be a bit dubeous about the paint work as i thought the japanesses couldnt paint very well?????? or is that just a generalised coment???

also how come it says genuine 2004 show car when the model year says 1993?  (or is that just to define the shape?)

I saw this at the yard in Japan.

We were going to bid on it but decided against.

Its a nice car, but a bit too wild in the wrong direction for what I wanted.

nice wheels but its a shame there like 50inch the car looks akward sitting on them, and them rubber band tyres are gonna offer and exciting driving experience

Also says Cost the price of a house to build....then up top says £5000 spent!

How expensive is it to build a house over there?

If they want stupid sums of money spent on an Rx7....Im welcome to a ****ing contest!

Personally I dont do the "see how many guages you can cram in a car" look!

As Sam rightly points out....few too many points that dont quite match.

Hmmm. From my dealings with Autoego off of eBay they sell tarted up junk. Went to see a black Nissan 300ZX they had for sale not so long back before I bought my RX7. Based down Dartford way. Work off the street and keep the cars in rented storage. The car looked great. Nice shiny wheels (they\'re own). Nice freshly painted bodywork. Interior was knackered. Speedo didn\'t work. Engine played host to loads of oil leaks. Car wouldn\'t start first time, had to jump it myself to get it going. Looks great to the unsuspecting buyer. But to anyone who knows cars it was a tradgedy waiting to happen. Rather dodgy history and V5 details. But asking top money for that model of car. Seem they\'re asking the same top whack for this RX7. Hopefully this isn\'t just a shed tarted up to look pretty like the 300ZX was.
The company know about wheels, tyres and tints. That\'s about it. Mechanical wise they don\'t know much. If anyone was to buy a car from them, ESPECIALLY an RX7 with a rotary engine, I would get it checked out thoroughly before dealing with them.
Looks nice, though not my taste.

Well Gurg I would say you did the right thing, lots of cosmetics on that beasty and maybe not to everyones taste. Looks like you would be paying for the paint job, those wheels [everyone has an opinion] and a body kit you love or hate, dont seem to have much in the way of go, cant see the engine making mega HP anyone paying 10+k for that needs help. In my honest opinion:Laugh

I dunno about the engine. Looks like its been very well put together and although its clearly running twin turbos, you don\'t know what they are. I remember seeing one in the states that was running sequential to4s and making over 500 hp.

The exterior however is just nasty.

The main reason i said no was the front vielside nose is not to my taste and to try to match the paint wpuld have been very diffecult without paint codes and i bet this aint got one !!!

Cant remember what twins it was running tbh but the quote was approx 490bhp @ 1.2bar or something, the rear lights was another bad point for me too.

Looks nice from the side profile but thats about it ??? :Tongue1

Try 4000 Miles since new on similar age. ;)

They are out there, just way above the average prices.

Lots of nice bits on the car, Gurj is right. The price it sold for was around £8k landed and registered here.

However long are the intercooler pipes though, the left one seems to be heading out to the wing !!! The FMIC isnt actually that big ! Also the induction pipes are a good deal longer than standard which I believe changes the way the turbos spool up ? Also where is the cold air coming from ?

Side profile of the car looks great, wheels are a tad big. For a showcar why dont they put what the wheels are ?!!!?

WTF possessed them to put a hideous blue gaiter on the car though, matching it to the rollcage is just odd !!!! Also why fit white dials and then black aftermarket ones doh.

10k buys you a really good RX7 these days, I am not sure this is what I would buy if I had that money.

I\'m not sure the Induction pipe work will make too much Diffrence as long as its got a Good Cool air feed. But the IC pipes???? Whats going on there, i don\'t understand why tuners Cut and Weld pipes like that rather then buying in nice smooth bent pipe. Then there\'s wy they have left the Plastic cross over pipe? you would have thought if they where going to all that messing about with the IC pipes you\'d get rid of that and put a 90deg elbow on the Y pipe and your away.

TBH i\'ve always wanted a go in a car with big long IC pipes like that, just out of intrest to see what the Responce is atualy like? i could imagen its not that hot but i wounder if its as bad as i think it would be???

Not all the impossible, just rare. I picked up a 1993 UK car with 18,500 back in 2003. Fully documented. A lot more likely over there considering numbers and the fact it\'s a show car.

Thats good going. Think I\'d rather balance money and age out with a newer year myself to get some of the development revisions out of the way. Picking up one with a proven <20k is very impressive though. I\'ve often seen 15yr old imports that say they have 20 - 40k but very rarely with the documents to prove it.

wasnt this car at the ptm show at santa pod?

two young guys driving it?

all i remember (if i remember right) is them arguing that it is worth x amount of money and the 1992 show car for veilside not 2004!! why would they show that in 2004?
