Anybody on here had a play with them?
Only looking as at the current market rate (and using staff transfer rates) I can get this for about £115.....

:3Confused
loads of negative stuff about SSAutochrome on the various forums. They are cheaply made and certainly the manifolds are a little iffy (thin steel and dodgy welds)
do the turbo\'s come from the same place as XS-Power and Master Power turbo\'s (i.e Far east copies of garret items?)
even if it only worked for 1000 mile it would be a deal!!!
Nas has summed it up :D
I brought one of their exhausts about 2 years ago and frankly it was bloody good, £250 including postage and at my door within a week. It was well made too. I agree a turbo is a much riskier propostion though.
you cant go wrong for that sort of money. If it lasts a year you dont mind. Just dont expect it to 1.4 bar all day at 600 bhp.
Nice stock turbo II upgrade or 12a project, what more could you ask for.
LoL! My theory was (and its a shaky theory at best) that a tubby like that should be able to produce 300+hp all day long though....
Whats the difference between the .60 and .85? I\'m assuming thats the housing size? If that theory is correct then the smaller size would give a quicker spool time?
0.60 is way too small for a rotary, 0.84 is about the smallest i would even consider. I had a 0.96 which had vertually no lag, my new housing is a 1.15 and is not much different, positive boost at 2k rpm. will find out when full boost is reached on saturday.
been doing a bit of reading on Ausrotary and Rx7 club.com it seems that there are a couple of different makes of cheap turbo\'s the ones made by Masterpower in Brazil seem to have an OK reputation BUT the SS-Autochrome and XS-Power ones that are apparently made in china have a very bad rep ... things like they don\'t bother to balance the turbos at all (eek) and very poor castings and machining.
The masterpower ones "seem" to have an OK reputation. The thing I have seen mentioned is that they only have 180 degree thrust bearings which means they won\'t take that much abuse (high boost, surges, antilag ;) ) and they also use small dia shafts which also means smaller journal bearings.
So all in they sound OK, just not as robust as a garrett made turbo ... but then again how many can you buy for the cost of one garrett ?
I suppose the other question is if it goes and takes your engine with it then its not a cheap fix.

I got a genuine Garrett GT4088 for $850 (at the time £450) + shipping came to about £550 landed.
