Title: new BOV / dump valve
Post by: JohnP on May 12, 2007, 07:05:52 PM
i have just bought this group-N BOV

can anyone point me in the direction of a fitting kit. the BOV has a re-circ pipe, but can this just be left to fresh air? if so, do i need to do anything to my current re-circ pipwork.

I\'m very sketchy on BOV\'s... So if someone has an illustrated guide anywhere, i\'d appreciate that too :)

thanks

Swap out the old recirc valve for your new one.  You can either do a straight swap to keep the recirculating function, or leave the exit side of the bov to vent to atmosphere, and blank off the return pipe to the airbox.

There are 2 stock valves.  1 for the 1st tub and 1 for the 2nd.

do i have to replace both?

No.

If you want to hear the noise "woosh", then most people replace the one for the first tub.  This way you will hear the noise whenever coming off throttle at medium to low revs, so generally about town..

and if so, what diameter is the stock pipe without me removing it to find out..

i really appreciate your help. give me a straight 4 with a single turbo and i\'m fine! i\'ve owned the rotary now for a whole... 3 days

or even just a diameter adapter for the pipe if i close the return pipe?

The pipe is 19mm diameter.  If your bov is the same then no probs.

If not you would need a T-piece of the correct size, but looking at the pic of yours I think it will bolt straight in.

Yes, and block off the air filter so it isn\'t sucking air through the hole you leave.

Yes Greddy Type RS.

I don\'t want to run the risk of compressor surge..

Your turbo must kick ass with the roller bearing.  I love the noise it makes !

I am happy with mine though, I think we prob have the same power only you get boost alot earlier !!

lol i know.. for now, i want to keep things very simple. i dont want to get out of my depth too quickly after only having had the car for 3 days.

Just got some HKS induction hardpipes ordered.. and i\'ll slap some universal filters on for now.

Very early days yet.. its a bit different to a V6 vectra :P

Oh yeah sorry you got the same as me, T04s.

I\'m thinking of the other guy, Lum90

Personally I wouldn\'t risk it mate.  But I don\'t know all that much about it so if other peeps tell you it ok then fair enough.  Me thinks bov\'s were designed for a reason though !!
