does the fd3 boost less in 1st and second gear?
That would depend on the ECU you where using if a Haltec then yes it can probably Motec though i\'m not sure on that. If using the stock ECU then no i don\'t think so.
Kevin
just asking cos now n then it hits fuel cut in 3-4-5th but in 1-2nd i can screw the balls out of it and no boost cut?
boost depends on load
I belive thats called Spike and you will get that if you have a free flowing exhaust on a stock Turbo pack (its basicly where the quantity/Speed of gass produced by the engine overwelms the size and shape of the Wastegate and the boost pressure carries on past the Target Boost) it can be helped by porting the Wastegate on the Turbo\'s or fitting a Profect B2.
If you see it In higher gears its called Creep (thats a simalar thing but often more dangrous because the engine uses more fuel under higher load i.e. in fifth at WOT, so thats when you\'ll see Fuel cut)

well said.
well thats what i thought, its just strange how i can give it serious beans on toast in 1st and 2nd but any gear after that when the boost comes up it go\'s burrrp, i might drill a hole in the ic to get rid of the boost lol (joke)
how much can u pick a profect B2 up for, i was told that a pfc would do the trick, but thats the only option iv been given so far
Ok, Power Fc does\'nt fix the problem it just covers the Fueling so it won\'t run out of fuel and go pop when it goes over the Target Boost, The Profect B2 is a Boost controler, it doesn\'t do anything for the Fuel but it has ways and means of controling the boost so it doesn\'t over shoot the Target hence not needing extra Fuel.
The advantage of the profect is you don\'t need to get it mapped on the rollers, if you do a bit of reading up and ask a few questions you can set it up quite easly your self and it will get rid of your problem. Only down side is it add\'s a gizmo that can be fiddled with a "I\'ll just up the boost a bit" kind of thing, if you can leave it alone once its set up then you\'ll be happy :).
I picked up a profec B for £65..... still got to fit it though!! so they are out there & can be picked up at a reasonable price!!
Jono
If you buy one second hand try and get one thats not been fitted also go on the Greddy web site and get a list of the bits that should be with it (pipes etc are easy to replace but stuff like the solenoid that goes under the bonnet etc are offten not removed with the display)
so get a profect and dial out some of the boost, i did have an avc-r but gave it my mate for his scoob, wish id kept it now, my profect search on ebay returned no results lol

Thats because they are a Profec not a Profect. Search for Profec B. Usuallly loads of Profec B 2\'s on there for £150-200...
that would have helped lol
so if im thinking this correct the acctuator would open up when the boost get\'s up to ease the turbo off a bit,
so say the turbo reaches it normal output of boost being say 10 units, but cos of my exhaust the turbo is making 12 units... which would be causing my fuel cut... so why isnt the extra boost opening the acctuator a bit more to bring it back down to 10 units of boost? and if its pressure that opens the acctuator, how would a valve on the acctuator pipe make it open further as the valve cant make more pressure than what its already reciving from the manifold?
