Title: stock dials
Post by: JohnP on May 11, 2007, 09:30:06 AM
hi guys,

i\'m new to rx7 ownership. i got my 1994 FD3S Efini yesterday, and love it :) and for once, this isnt a newbie maintenance question.

my cars got a nasty aftermarket speedo dial inplace of the original, and i was wondering where i can get hold of a stock one in original kmh? or if anyone here has one they want to offload? then i\'ll get the full mph conversion done.

i live in northants, uk. does anyone know where i can get this conversion done quite locally? or can joe-bloggs garage do it?

thanks for any help you guys can offer, and i appreciate (from reading your forums) that you quickly get fed up with noobs like me asking silly q\'s, so i\'ll try and ask only when i really have to!

thanks,

John

when you say speedo dial is it physicaly inplace of the standard unit? (the right most hole on the dash) maybe its just a facia for the dial? i know you can get full replacement dials as mine has been  changed to a knightsports unit 0 - 300kmh , but the stanrdones im sure come up on ebay everynown and then (but thinking about it, the dial has the LCD with the trip display/distance covered in car on it, does your dial have that?)

yes, it is inplace of the standard facia.  Its just bugging me! the font is different, and the dial deffo isnt accurate, and the highest number on the actual dial is 110mph.  I\'d rather have the original km/h facia that matches, and get the speedo converted properly :)

just a thought, maybe some ones stuck a little facia over the top of the standard dial in a crude attempt to convert it to MPH? How about a picture of the thing ?

If it\'s reading in mph only then it sounds like it\'s a nasty aftermarket speedo face. Probably need a new used one in place TBH...

Well, the fonts on the really expensive Japanese aftermarket speedos normally don\'t really match that well either but that doesn\'t necessarily make them nasty :)

Get a picture up mate, you could be sitting on a few quid if it is an aftermarket one:)

Try Jimmy\'s (one of the vendors listed at the top of the page) - always good for standard parts.

Cheers,
Alex
