Hi Guys
I\'ve noticed that some of the FD\'s have 1308 on the V5 as does my 13B Cosmo, Whereas my FC has 2,5 ltr on V5, what does other FC owners have?
my coupe is a 2354 and the cab is a 1308 :D
might epend on if its a UK car or Jap import
When UK cars came over DVLA for a little extra road tax made them 2600 whereas Japan reg them as 1300
Well its easyer on a jap Import for the simple reason you can Argue that Mazda Japan Tell you its 654 X2 of 1308cc where as Mazda UK say its 2600cc (They made an Agreement with the DVLA years ago to call it a 2600 in the UK), You can do stuff like send ther Mazda Sales Leaflets. Problem with UK cars is how can you argue the CC is wrong if its been like that for the last 15 years or so? When you import a Rx often you can say that the CC they have on there records for that car is wrong and you\'ll end up with a Nice 1300cc Log book :) But the Problem is a Bit more harder to fix if it has not been recently Registered in the UK.
2354cc on my TII but it is a UK car.
1989 UK spec. RX7 FC egi > log book 2354cc : which was arrived at by multiplying 1308 by 1.8 : turbo\'s multiplied 2 = 2.6l (approx)
Never understood why, but if you\'ve got a UK registered rex there is not much you could do.
It was worked out by the VE of the engine (basicly it was simalar to a 2600 of the time)

Thats a Balls up as well, the UK FD is 2600 on its log but the T2 is 2400cc when they both use the same 13b engine??? I think some one could\'nt make up there mind when it was all being decided.
Yup 2616 on FD and 2354 on FC
I was always on the belief that it was for motorsports why the CC equivalent went up and the dvla use the same reason the motorsports guv\'s do.
mines rego\'d as a 1300 as well, my FD isnt.
So does anyone know if it is possible to get a uk spec 2354cc reclassified as a 1300cc? And if so how to go about it?:Hammer
Its quite hard to get a uk car reclassified, its one of the perks of owning a jap car (you can argue that its wrong if its only just been registered)
Uk cars get cheap Insurance and Jap cars get cheap Tax. Unfortunatly as i found out they want a new engine number etc if you try changing a UK car, it can be done but only if the front plate (with the engine no) was changed during a Rebuild.
I changed mine last year for my UK T11.
it was simple,
just filled in the section on the V5 for changes and wrote a letter explaining that there is some discrepancy in the cc of the Mazda RX7 T11\'s some are 1300 and some 2600 and sent them a photo copy of Mazda\'s sales brochure from 1989 which clearly shows the cc as 2 x 654cc [1308] and also explained that there was only one size engine fitted to the T11 and bobs your uncle log book came back with the cc changed and now tax cost £110 for a year instead of £185
Thats exactly how i do it but when i tried it on my old T2 Vert (uk car) they wrote back saying can i explaine why if its the same engine number on the log and there records show the Rx7 is 2354cc and it has been like that since 1990, why is it wrong?.
I guess it depends on who picks up the mail that morning but i know for a fact there is no argument with Jap cars and i\'ve personaly done three todate.
All said and Done its worth a Go to see if you are lucky :)

i did the same thing with the cab ( Jap ) and thats been in the UK for over 5 yrs now and they had no hassle in changing it
just never fancied trying the UK Coupe ??
Thanks for the info guys, As I\'ve had the Cab for 11 year I\'m probably on a losing battle!!
Only one way to find out ;)
The 2nd gens were taxed at 1.8x CC and the FD\'s at 2x CC.
