Title: Advice on Coilovers
Post by: Morrmat on May 09, 2007, 12:36:17 AM
I currently have Cusco\'s on my FD (Not sure what model though), they\'re on the softest setting and are still bumpy as hell!

I want to get a new set that are alot softer, more for street use and i was wondering what coilovers you would all reccomend to go for?

I\'ve heard mixed reports about Tein Super Steets and Bilstein??

Any help would be great as i want to get them purchased soon,

Matt

For the requirement you want you need look no further than the new Tein Mono Flex kit.

Very road compliant over the bumps and the ruts of U/K roads and very adjustable should you want to go on track.

These kits are really nice and a step forward from the now superseded  old Flex kit and priced at £920 plus vat with MRP giving free delivery

Hope this helps.

Tanabe,  Zeals, Nitron.... There are many to choose from. Budget will play a big part.

Whats your Buget like :)

Aragosta are simply the best but you will pay for it.

If you don\'t mind me asking what Cusco\'s have you got on? are they Ajustable? It may be that you have too Hard springs on.

If you are not venturing to a track I would bare in mind that MonoFlex still run +/- 500lb springs...

Ah, but its the damping abilaties that help on our rubbish roads and these soak up pot holes real good :Thumbs-up

Personaly, and Tein concure with this that most coil-over kits on the market are designed purely for the track and people then try and use them on the road but I beleve the Flex kit is one of the very few kits that\'s the other way around, indeed you only have to listen to customer feed back to realise this as well:cool .

Hi Chris, if money was no object as official dealers we could supply you JRZ suspension at £5k plus vat for the FD as favored by serious Porsche guys and some FI teams, now they would make yer car handle :Thumbs-up

I\'m not sure what model the Cusco\'s are, but i have played around with them, and theyre on the softest setting as they are now, you don\'t even want to know what the hard settings like!!

A friend has got Tein Superstreets on his Skyline and that feels like a nice ride, i\'ve found them on driftworks for £585 inc vat, so i\'m thinking of going for them? Has anyone on here got them?

Loads of FDs running SS\'s over here now, they are sprung a little more compliant than Flex altho the damping is not as sophisticated. £585 inc is normal retail (without the top mounts).

Have you driven a stock shocks/springs FD??

Ohlins - I have never been disappointed with any car running Ohlins, period.

No, i\'ve never driven an FD with stock springs/shocks - whats the ride like stock? I just want a nice setup as its making driving the car unbearable, doesnt stop hopping over every little bump in the road!! :xconfused

If your buying Superstreets we would strongly advise buying the kit with uppermounts so you get the best from the kit,

Retail for an FD is £763 plus £20 shipping inc vat,

ATM for MRC we have been selling this kit delivered for £730  inc vat

why don\'t you sell the Cusco\'s (not sure what type you have but zero 2\'s are worth some thing like £400 second hand) then add the £300 to it and get the complete Tein set up with top mounts etc? There are people on here that do use there cars mainly for the Track, Worth a go?

I never use mine on a track and have got away from the bone rattling standard shocks with Cusco\'s fully adjustable (set damping on 3) lowered 20 mill, but modified them to use tein springs, very pleased nice ride,
