Title: Dump Valves???
Post by: Tiger_kpt on May 08, 2007, 02:02:22 PM
Hi all. Will try to keep this short and sweet.

I have a UK RX7 FD TT. Recently had alot of work done to it to take it from standard to well tuned, whilst keeping it on stock twins.

A couple of the parts I went for which are related to the area of advice I need here was a Greddy elbow with BOV flange, a Greddy Type RS BOV and an ARC induction box.

WGT carried out all of the part fitting, mapping and tuning, etc. When I got the car back they had done what I asked them to and fitted the Greddy elbow with the Greddy BOV attached to it via the flange already on it. One thing that confused me though was that they left on the two standard recirculation dump valves which recirculates boost pressure back into the ARC induction box rather than to atmosphere like the Greddy BOV is designed to do. I can hear the stock valves still working through the ARC box and not too sure if the Greddy BOV is working at all because of still having these fitted - so could be simply engine decoration only - which is not what I want.

Just want to know if under this set-up... should the Greddy BOV be functioning? Or would it just be sitting dormant? And shoudl I do away with the stock valves? If so how do I do this? Do I blank off the necessary ports on the ARC box and leave the valves present in situe? Or is there more to it than that?

Any help or advice would be great.
Will probably end up changing the ARC box to the Greddy Airinx twin filter set-up. Or would you guys keep the ARC over these?

Cheers! :guinness
