I have had my gen 3 for 4 months. this morning while pulling off my steep drive i ran out of petrol . After getting some petrol it struggled to start and then the battery died i have tried jumping it but still no joy i need some quick suggestions :(
how much petrol you put in it matey?
is it turning over but not firing or is it totally dead?
may help to do a search for the flooding procedures too
i have only put a can in which is 4 quid what can i do about floodin should i put more petrol in it
its turning over but not firing sometimes it nearly goes but just dies
personally if were me I\'d put some more in if its totally out...
it\'s gonna be real difficult to start with a duff battary too but keep at it and I\'m sure it\'ll fire..you may wanna go buy another one asap :)
give the flooding thing a go it may work... here\'s the link

yeah cool thanks 4 the link it may help a bit (http://)
do you think i could have a problem with my rotor tips because that is the main thing i am worried about
no very doubtful I think mate.. not for starting problems
from what I understand if it were rotortips, i\'d start but sound like a traction engine and you\'d have white smoke puring out the back :)
Had the same problem over the last 2 days. I now know how to tackle a flooded rotary engine, if you haven\'t got it started yet let me know.
still not started battery is flat do you knw an easier way of getting the git going
Put more than £4 worth of fuel in if it was totally empty, get new battery or charge up old one, if no luck starting then do the deflood procedure
Or if that fails
RAC cover ? to get it to someone with a bit more mechanical knowledge
Dave
I\'ve had the same problem...well, except for the running out of petrol thingy!!
I had to go and buy a new battery, and then had to spend ten minutes unflooding it. You\'ll find it a lot easier (In my opinion anyway) if you just go out and buy a new battery. It\'ll help a lot.
Mine was barely trying to fire when I flooded mine, then I bought a new battery, and I could hear it firing. Took a while, but finally got it started - didn\'t even need to take the spark plugs out either. Just followed the instructions set out in the manual!
I havent got a manual though, how did you unflood the car, i really need it to start, please help!
this is what worked for me once
hold accerator to floor (cuts fuel) and turn engine over, probably be a lot of smoke etc, but it should go in the end hopefully, i f not.........
take spark plugs out and dry them
or else find the deflood procedure using the search button !
what have you tried ?
I don\'t have the manual either. But this site does:

And navigate to the relevant page.
With a bit of luck you shouldn\'t need to take the spark plugs out. I didn\'t. But it does take a while to start. I was sat for about 10 minutes trying to start mine.
when they say domt let the motor die do they mean give it a bit if gas
Don\'t let it die: When it starts, keep it running!
When mine flooded, it started then died straight away. I didn\'t get on the gas. As soon as it starts, keep the revs up - but don\'t plant you\'re foot on the floor, as you don\'t want the turbos kicking in on a cold engine.
The second time mine started, i was quick enough onto the gas and got the revs up quickly, but knowing that the first turbo would have kicked in, i let the revs drop down to about 1500-2000 rpm so that the turbo was no longer in operation. Sounds more complicated than it really is.
yes, a flooded engine needs to be run for a bit afaik
Have you tried any of this advice yet ?
Runs rough for a bit of starting a flooded engine. Plus you get big clouds of smoke out the back - this is normal. Oh, and it stinks of petrol!!
Same principle as starting a piston engine after it is flooded, keep it revving or you\'ll just have sucked a load more fuel in and made it worse :)
