Title: FD clunking Steering Rack ?
Post by: shaunwil on May 05, 2007, 08:34:28 PM
After getting home from thor last week i\'ve discovered I\'ve got a slight clunking when I use the steering. Thought it may be a bolt coming loose so finally got round to jacking the front up and checking the tightness of everything. Everything seems fine and the steering rack is nice and tight.

The car has fresh bushs all round and I changed the ball joints while I did the suspension (knackered the seals trying to do the bushes). The wheels bearings feel fine, no rocking or knocking.

When you get a friend to move the wheel and look at the rack underneath the clunk is coming from inside on the passenger side of the steering rack.

The big question is do I need a new rack and is the car ok to use until i get my hands on one ??
