Title: It\'s Finally arrived!!!
Post by: evo_ray on May 03, 2007, 10:43:37 AM
Talk about a slow boat from china!!! My 1992 RX7 finally turned up after doing a detour to Mars and back! It took 3 months!!:Grrr

So the drive from Bristol to Luton????  OMG!!! I love the noise this car makes! Accelerate, decelerate, accelerate, decelerte etc etc etc.  The cars obvioulsy been limited so I will need to sort that out asap:Laugh.

The spec of the car is as follows:

59000km
Greddy piping/Turbo
Trust /Intercoler
RE Amamiya Aluminium radiator
Blitz/EVC boost controler
Engine dumper
Master cylinder stopper
HKS RS/air filter
HKS/exhaust pipe
Coil over sus

Ok, now for the part where I need help:)
Can someone either explain what/how i should set the Boost Controller.  If there is anyone in the Luton area who would be willing to come down, I promise them a nice cup of tea and a couple of samosas:Thumbs-up

I also need to wire in a fog but I have already found an excellent thread on here on how to convert a reverse light to a fog.  One question though, what should i use to tint the clear light cover to make it red?

As lots of poeple have recommeded that I fit an Apexi PFC, has anyone got one they are willing to sell to me.  I would be happy to pay in cash or samosas:Giggle

I\'m looking forward to getting it through its MOT, getting it registered and seeing what it can really do!:burnout

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hang on bro didnt you have a gold scooby???

what i did was use the technical stickies for converting a reverse into a rear fog light, (pretty easy job) and i used a red LED type bulb from ebay didnt bother tinting the glass, it passed an MOT.

so lets see some pics of your new monster!

Me?? A gold scooby??? Oooooooooh noooooooo.  A white Evo IV, yes, but not a gold scooby.  Not really my cup of tea! Hopefully will Have a Evo Tommi soon aswell:InLove.

Thanks, I also found the thread on converting the reverse to a fog from the technical section and have ordered said red bulb from ebay for £4.50 incl delivery (not bad for a 70p bulb!)

I\'ll get some pics up shortly if I can.

Still looking for help/advice/member to set up my boost control as I haven\'t got the foggiest!!

if you tint it red it will look cr4p as it wont be even as one side will be clear and one red.

put a red bulb in it, and just to make sure for the MOT put some red self adhesive tranparent red film over the clear section just for the MOT as soon as you get down the road take it off.

thats what my MOT man did for me, quickly stuck it on, and said i am assure it wont stay there for long, so i lol.

What i might do is spray my neighbours reverse light on his convertable BM red to see how it looks.  If it really looks cr4p, I\'ll do the sticky thing :chat

Ok if you have a front mount interccoler you must have an uprated ecu bud..take off the passenger footwell side panel and have a looky :)
And the tires are poo lol.. there ok in hot weather like today but in the wet you`ll most likely die a very happy death drifting about :yes

What would it look like?  There is a silver boxy thing on the left hand side of the passangers footwell.  Is that it?

watch out for the ECU. If its a jap aftermarket one it will have advanced timing and be mapped for 100 RON fuel. Quick route to rebuildsville if it runs lean.

Nice crisp straight barnet if you like!!

I think it had a TV in it at one time and those look like arials.  It still has a few boxes in it from Panasonic VICS.

I was wondering what the best way to remove them would be?  Hairdryer to heat the glue???

Thanks Laeeq.  Apparently the engine has excellent compression also.  Would need to get it tested at some stage.

I\'m an RX7 novice.  If there is a catagory before novice, then I\'m in that one -  Light Featherweight Novice.

Haven\'t got a clue what you are talking about.

I know this.......foot down - car flys

Looks like i got a lot of learning to do!!!

Mines are pretty much the holy grail of skybus tuning. The problem with an ECU like that is you can\'t remap it for uk fuel. I would stick it on a dyno and have the a/f ratio and stuff checked before you boot it. It could well be running lean on uk fuel. A couple of hundred quid spent well and wisely now could save you a few grand a few months down the line.

just read your way through this site, fduk and rx7club.. then you`ll know everything lol
Octain booster is meant to bump the ron in fuel up.. rx7 needs the high octaine fuel to prevent detination.. so 99ron is the highest we have, so octaine booster will increase it to 100, 101 ron ect.. if it works lol

sorry bro didnt see this thread, im in luton so can pop over anytime and have gathered a vast amount on knowledge i may be able to shed.

that fuse should be a 100amp main engine fuse which is very important. mine had a 120 i think and i have changed it to a 100 since i can try and get hold of one for you or point you in the right direction it may cost £4-5 but worht it as your engine can cut any time if they dont touch.

i also hold a monthly meet locally which i havent organised for a bit so feel free to come along when your all sorted.

give me a call say tomorrow evening if you are free and i will try to help mate.

the reason why it is empty on some cars is that the fuse is meant to be in the top hole however the connections are thick and cover both sockets.

Yes, please have a look if you have one. If not, if you are meeting one2watch soon, then ask him for it.

I fitted the fog today so am looking to take it for MOT this week somtime.

Question - can the rear seat be taken out and if so how?

can be done but a little tricky to explain, im at santapod tomorrow but i will try and come over either tomorrow or wednesday, pulling it a little will make it more obvious, as far as i can remember there arent any bolts but not sure entirely atm (been driving for 12 hours today).
