Title: Sticky caliper / piston
Post by: Alex T on May 02, 2007, 01:17:27 PM
Just wondering if any of you know how to sort this.

Girlfriends car, one of the rear calipers obviously is hardly moving, if at all. resulting in the outer pad constantly running on the disc, therefore being completely worn down now!

How can I stop the caliper from sticking? Free up the movement again.

Thanks in advance.

You can usually buy recon kits mate. You get new seals to put around the pistons. They are pretty cheap and not hard to fit.

With the rears it\'s normally a bit harder as they have the handbrake machanism attached as well so not as easy...

...Persoanlly for a rear I\'d get a recon calliper. Or check http://www.brakesint.com/ and see if they sell the bits for the car.

For a short fix, screw the piston right in and back out several times and it may free up for a short while.

GL!
