Hi all,
I have a problem with the RX7, its a standard UK 1993 and was running fine, but i had a water leak and the fan switch needed replacing. So i went about changing the fan switch. I removed the following:
-Intercooler
-Air box
-Alternator
-Air pump
-Drive belt
-A bunch of switches and hoses
I broke one hose which i replaced with a silicone one. Fits fine. Also found that a one way check valve was open. So i taped it up. I changed the switch and put it all back together. Unfortunately i blew a fuse for the dash lights, but changed this and now they all work. I carried out a Fan mod to the car that ro284 explained on hear how to do, so i have done that. Also i found that the large elbow that goes into the plenum had been installed wrongly and there originally was a large air gap. so i fitting this so there was no air gap.
I turned the ignition on many times without starting to see if the fan mod had worked and teh air con was still working - it does now. But when i started the car it went into autochock, the revs droped and hunted really badly between 800-400rpm with it blowing lots of smoke. I dont think it it an internal problem because the blue smoke stinks of excessive fuel.
Can i reset the ECU, its a standard ECU? I have disconnected the battery and left it over night and am about to see if that has reset it.
Has anyone got any ideas why its running so so badly, when before it was fine.
P.s i have not driven the car or even moved it between it running fine and now, so im very very confused and a little worried.
Sorry for the long post but i hope you guys will be able to shed some light?

ECU could solve the problem... press the break light with the battery off to completly drain any electricity in the car... hopefully it will work :)
Quick update, it turns out that after putting all the hoses back on i knocked off the hose that plumbs into the MAP Sensor. Plugged this back in and hey presto it runs fine now!
good job... easy fix then
Yep! I was really relieved. It just goes to show how complex the Vacuum system on these engines are.
