Title: 2nd turbo not kicking in in 2nd
Post by: wee_blim on April 29, 2007, 10:43:21 AM
Basically 2nd feels as though it has no go to it, you feel the 1st turbo spool up and give boost, but then reving it all the way round theres nothing, however I think every now and then you feel a slight pull somewhere around 5 or 6, so slightly higher as the other gears it seems to come in a little earlier.

Hope I made this clear lol, thanks in advance :wave

check/replace all your vac hoses. Will most probably resolve and boost issue.

^^ what he said! It would be worth while checking out your vacuum chamber too, check here for useful trouble shooting info: http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-7/rx7stuff.htm (http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-7/rx7stuff.htm)

Thanks for the info I will take a look, I need to get a manual asap I think :D

I am pretty sure the 2nd turbo is not working at all, as I first thought it was only in 2nd gear, but today I left the confinements of a city and hit the m25 where I thought I would have a little play.

Got to past 4k and yep 1st boost... then.... nothing, just flat and fairly lifeless and a struggle to hit the redline.

I hear this is very common, and have been reccomended to rotoworx or somewhere, but sounds like they may take a while to fit me in, so in the mean time, is there anything that a 13b novice can do to try solve the problem? I am a novice to believe me, I am not very advanced when it comes to anything other than a old school Honda b series engine. But if there is something I can do then please tell me and I will try my best.

Cheers,
James

You can sort it yoruself mate. I have teh exact same problem and will be looking into it as soon as I\'ve sorted somthing else out.

You basically need to remove the UIM and replace the vac lines. Not a hard job if you have a socket set and a bit of patience.
