Title: Should I put something in this?
Post by: Gateeast on April 28, 2007, 08:37:20 PM
Hello all

I have boost problems not getting above 0.5, whilst looking I found this which blows when idling and really blows when revving. Is this causing my problem or should it be left as it is?

Any help appreciated.  Thank you

not an expert but i dont think there shd be any blow when idling or revving ..intake shd be sucking on idle as on vac but airtight on boost otherwise boost will blow out hence u will never get above that level

id look elsewhere for your boost prob...i dont think thats gonna be it!! if youre only achieving 0.5, check for split boost pipes and one way check valves which have become 2 way lol.

i think you should pop a screw in that hole as its obviously a leak. get some ducting for that intercooler and also look at check valves etc and perhaps under plenum as it may be more but tackle one at a time and dont get carried away, seems minor and start with the screw hole.

any advice call me 07737 257 377.

been through all this, good luck

block it up dude it will be causing u huge problems! as said above that it should suck well it wont it will blow as its on the outside of the throttle body so its no sumwhere where there would be vacum, you\'ll need to block it up well ie get it welded up, you only need a tiny boost leak to mess the whole system up

Thanks to all.  Could anything bad happen if I block it up?

John F that made me laugh! Well spotted bud! As everyone has said get it filled up! Also check the connections from the y-pipe, it\'s a common fault if you loosing boost.

Plug it immediately.

That should be airtight

I would get it plugged, it looks like it could be a hole for a mounting bracket possibly ?

My Greddy one has 2 holes where the bracket connects to it but they are more at the front than that.

Deffo get it blocked !!!

Check the usual stuff mate like the silicon joiners...if they have any holes in them it causes problems !!!

I took it to Pip - after plugging the hole and some other bits made 300bhp which apparently is very good for a stock car.
