I\'m looking to go for an Electric fan insted of the viscous fan, it has 2 speeds, I was wondering if i could use the Apexi PFC to control the two speed as it would do with the 2 stock fans.
If so, does anyone know :
Does the ecu make the earth connection to the fan relay or the positive?
Which wires coming from the ecu i should use.
I am assuming there are 4, as IIRC the two FD fans also have 2 speeds so would need 4 signal wires i think?
any help greatly appreciated.
Change the temp settings that the fans turn on at and then see which ones get voltage.

thats the problem, i dont know the wires as i dont use an FD Loom.
Also, you need data logit to change temps, you cant do it from a commander
also, i wont find voltage if the ecu switches earth and not give it power.
Got a datalogit you could borrow. :D

i might take you up on that offer

Don\'t know about FC, but an FD earths one fan relay via the Thermoswitch, if it\'s any help, not sure of pfc

i\'m using an apexi ecu for an FD to run my FC. The FC uses a viscous rngine driven fan so there is no fan switch. I have a 2 stage electric fan to fit but i have to do the full wiring for it.
I though the ecu controlled when the fans came on not a thermo switch.
The FD fans are controlled by the Thermoswitch, the single wire from this goes direct to fan relay, the thermo basically completes the circuit to earth when the engine reaches its (thermo) rated temp, i dont know if they are also controlled by the ecu at any time on top of this,
Bob
with the apexi you can change the temps that the fans come on at which must overide the thermoswitch somehow. Where is the thermo switch on an FD?
It\'s right behind the Stat housing, under the air pump, there are two sensors there the Thermo one has a single wire, i guess the other goes to the ecu then,
