I\'m in the middle of doing my V mount & have thought about ripping out the power steering cooling pipe & replaceing it with an FD oil cooler as I have one spair........ but is there a presure valve in the cooler or is it a free flow???
Also would I be OK mounting this behind the rad as I don\'t think I\'m going to have enough room otherwise!!!
Cheers

Hiya Jono
I changed the oil cooling system for the power steering and used a water to oil cooler. The good thing about it is it is very slim line so fits in between the rad and the return to the engine. It is very neat and both tidies up and improves reliability.
If you need anymore info just ask....once Carl has finished rebuilding the engine I can send you some pics?

There is a thermostat in the standard fd coolers.
Atomic...... Yes I\'m interested...... how much & where from??? need to get that sorted ASAP as I\'m having stainless piping made up for the rad next week.... so if I could get that fitted to the stainless pipe the same time that would be fab!!!
Jono
Drop me a mail with your number and I will get one for you
Jon
PMMMMMMMmmmmmm\'d ya fella!!

Jono,
Not really in answer to your post but thought you might be able to help me out.
I\'m in the middle of doing a V mount too. Mission and a half! I removed the "S" shaped cooler for the power steering and am replacing it with an oil cooler mounted at the front just behind one on of the holes in my splitter. (next to the original oil cooler)
It\'s been a right pain moving the air con rad. What have you done with it and how did you get the pipes to fit? It really didn\'t help that the threads stripped on the lower connection when I took it out! At the moment I\'ve got an engineering company putting all new connections on for me. Just wondering if you had similar problems?
thanks
i have binned the PAS cooling pipes on every RX7 and never had a problem. Mazda have to make the car suitable to work in very hot countries, in the UK you dont need the pas cooling. Mine has never been a problem on road track or drifting, i\'m sure others will disagree
Feelio.... My air con came out easy enough... bit of a fiddle getting the fittings off but thats another story!! I not going to be putting the air con back on as in the 2 years I\'ve owned the car I havent pressed the button once, so it\'s all going mate!! The only thing I\'m keeping is the PAS cooling & thats it!!
Just a thought.... I could make a new set of cooling bars using copper pipe.......... couldn\'t I??? & re position them in a more conveniant place!!!
Jono
Jono,
As your getting rid of your Air con, any chance you want to part with the rad?? I could use one, as I said the threads on mine are knackered....
Did you decide on fabricating a new cooler out of copper pipe or have you gone with a new oil cooler?
I fit a very small rad behind my intercooler. Keeping the fluid slightly warm gives lots more feedback than when it gets really hot !
You don\'t need anything near as big as a fd cooler.
Shaun
I\'ve managed to bend the existing cooler pipe enough now to sit behind the rad & above the rad pipe, so all is funky now!! Just cracking on with the pipe work & aultering the IC tanks!!!
What sort of cash you willing to part with for the AC rad mate??
Jono
Jono,
Well done on bending the pipes, I had a go with not much success.
Hows £20 grab ya? Is it in good nick?
