Mine makes a bit of a strange noise somtimes when reversing so i\'m thinking clutch problems.
Well normally it would slip. The revs would rise but nothing would happen as you have no drive.
Dont know what the noise is. I only ever use reverse to get out a parking space.

Hmmm its not slipping so thats a good thing, i better stop driving backwards everywhere:D
i found on the scoob as it was nearing end of life, just before it started slipping ie needed changing ASAP!, was that the bite point was very near the top of the pedal travel. Dont know how conclusive this is but could be used as a very rough guide i suppose, just hope not too much so as my mondeo is pretty near top & well dont wana waste any money on that heap (http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/edoom/let_it_all_out.gif) lol

There are various clutch faults when it\'s going that can cause different symptons biting point can be literally on the floor and hard to get in gears especially 1st 2nd and reverse, or clutch pedal can be too high usually means high wear on cars that are self adjusting or have non adjusting clutch, Shouldn\'t have to worry about your mondeo si as I believe their built like the old sierras and have adjustable clutch cable so you can have a it in the space of a few secs and the biting point will be lower. Also you clutch slipping which is easy to prove by being stationary engine warmed up handbrake off put the car in 3rd gear rev to approx 3,500 rpm lift your foot off the clutch gently if it stalls straight away the clutch is not slipping at all and Bob\'s your uncle, if the engine turns for a few seconds before stalling it\'s slipping slightly if the engine doesn\'t stall Bob\'s not your uncle and you need a new clutch asap.

The rear limited slip differential clunks a bit when going slowly forwards or backwards, could it be that?
