Was away for a week just there and after gettin bak jumped in the Rex for a spin, took a few minutes to start (usually first turn) and then ran very lumpy for a while. Also car lost all power under light throttle a few times, felt like i had hit the brakes!!!

Once warmed up it seemed ok.

Later that day went out to do a bit of  shopping and noticed that the digital mileage display was blank, backlight was on but no digits... and car started cutting out when i hit 2550rpm and when it reached 3600rpm, after a while the digits re-appeared and car ran normal.... exact same happened on way to work and back!!!! when the display works, the cars works????/

The car is standard, 65000miles and has been running not too bad recently...

its a 1993, standard ecu...

yeah, this first happened in January, above copied from an old post...no one seems to have the answer...

have changed plugs, re done earth points, new battery, check wiring behind dash and clocks and generally spent hours fannying about trying to find problem.

Its so intermittent... if i leave it for a few days it seems ok, then itll just decide not to play again.

Its booked into The Garage in Wishaw on Thurs to get suspension looked at so hopefully Marc can cast his eye over it...again

Hi Craig. That would of been me at the lights. I\'ve seen a yellow FD coming down from Maryhill way. If you are about that neck of the woods we should hook up sometime.
As for your problems. It sounds like a limp home mode, which I can\'t remember the FD actually has or not. I would check the ecu plugs are in okay. Then I would reset the ECU. Off the top of my head... the ecu gets its speed and RPM signals  from the engine via the Dash. You could possibly have a loose cable in there.
