Title: Interest in Breaking 90 EGI?
Post by: hawker182 on April 22, 2007, 09:27:24 PM
Been offered a non running 1990 EGI in bl**dy good nick, pretty sure i can get it going again but am really thinking spares?

Would there be much interest in people taking parts....be looking to break the whole thing if need be before it goes to car heaven. Dont wanna buy it then have it sat on the drive for years :Giggle

If the body is in good nick, I\'d try to get it running again. There are fewer and fewer FCs around, so sending another to the great scrapyard in the sky may not be a good move.

Yeah bodywork is ok, needs some welding in the usual places but other than that think getting it started again is going to be ok. Just dont know if i have the time/room to work on another FC, this one needs MOT\'in too which means i\'ve got 2fcs, neither running. And the TII is eating up alot of time and money.

I could sure do with some parts from it and it was heading to the scrap anyway, so i dunno, get it running sell? or break it?

How much do nice EGI\'s fetch these days, its got a full service history and MOT\'s dating right back to when i was born lol, could sell it as a potentially nice FC. Damn these cars :Laugh

if you do break it - i know someone who wants an engine :D

if you have the time - then try and save it - as tim says - there isnt many left these days

Yeah puts me in a dilema really. Think i will def have it off the chap as he dont know diddly about these cars and thinks its dead beyond repair but i know its savable. Just space really, only have 1 driveway space and 1 garage. Mrs uses the drive, TII in the garage. Will go have a chat with the guy and see if i can beat him down even more, then decide what to do with it i guess. Either way benefits me, but would be a shame to destroy it, thinking maybe a daily runner for me if its ok when i get my hands on it.

Stu - if all fails and it goes to the big scrapyard up above then i\'ll give you a shout about the engine. Or i could MOT it tax it, get it running and use the money from selling it to get the TII really really nice. See my problem.......Watch this space lol :3Confused

Been chatting to the guy and he says the rust underneath is BAD! so think i\'m gonna take it off him and break it, will take what i need for the coupe then offer it here in the for sale section as Breaking. As soon as it arrives i\'ll get some photos done and post them up in this thread.

PS- Will be a full leather interior going :mmmm and its in good nick from what i\'ve seen. No good to me as i\'ve got other plans for my TII.

Shaun watch this space. Cheers Adam

Ricco, yeah welcome to come on over, may be able to help with some electrical gremlins i cant seem to get rid off ;) will check my mail and if ya need parts then let me know and it\'ll be nice and easy to come get them. Also never ridden in an FD....Hint Hint lol

Shaun, spoke to the previous owner for a while today and its been laid up for about a year. He tried unflooding it but it just flooded straight away again, he reckons one of the spark plugs is cracked and that the fuel smells stale so this may be the problem. I havnt looked at it yet as its miles away so will have a better idea when it arrives. Before it was laid up it was apparently running ok so guess just a good old service and a bit of TLC should see her going. Dont know compression figures but as soon as i know anything i\'ll post up with pics. I\'m not after anything engine related so if you do want the whole lump then you can have it cheap, as long as you come and get it :)
