ok, after a hard weekends work the engine is now out, i was gonna do the rebuild myself at first but after the hastle of getting it out i think i\'m gonna get a specialist to do it.
who do you guys recomend? i live in N.E.Lincs area but i don\'t mind driving the engine down to them.
thanks,
WGT is closest to you http://www.wgtautodevelopments.co.uk/
Jimmy\'s will be your closest depends what your after really. If your going to modify it then who do you want to do the tuning?
Kevin
i do wana tune it in the future, just want to get the engine done right first so that i\'ve got a good base.
You want to be using your tuner to do the build if you can then as they will be happier tuning there own engine.
Kevin
ah i see, doesn\'t jimmy\'s tune then? i\'m taking it to the ring in september and just want it to be able to handle that. i\'ll probably start tuning it up around christmas.
Your best bet is search the forum there\'s a few out there some give warrenties some do but don\'t cover detonation. You really need to make your own mind up who you want to go with.
Kevin
ok, thanks for your help.
WGT or Carl Hayward are generally considered the best, and I reckon for something like this it\'s worth getting it done to the highest standards you can.
spoke to jimmy\'s and haywards this morning, both of them were very helpfull and had plenty of time to chat about what i need. gonna get the respray done first then take the whole lot down so it can be rebuilt there, saves me scratchin the fresh paint. just got to chose the colour now?!
thanks again for everyones help.

i\'m gonna go with the std rebuild from jimmy\'s this time.

By the general responce on the board to this question in the past, in fact I remember reading more than one comment recently by people saying they are the only two they would recommend highly. So, what\'s with the rolleyes exactly?
I just thought you made a bit of a sweeping statement, It wasnt your opinion.
go on FDUK and ask the same question.
Not looking for any arguments, just letting the guy know that the whole forum doesnt neccesarily agree with you.

Soooooooo every other builder is not worth bothering with?????????? Its comments like that that make forums like this much less appealing I think Kev got it about right, ANYONE looking to rebuild / have work done its best to research and ask questions from all tuners / people with PROVEN experience.

leave it out john, thats his opinion, he has had work done and is obviously happy with it.
im sure the guy will take you advice and research all the builders and make up his own mind.

make sure u read old threads as well my car is currently at carls having a rebuild after the last one from another tuner had such pathetic compression i could have farted with more power
I thin kthe advice of reading the small print very carefully and seeing what your warranty covers you for is the most solid advice.
ha, didn\'t realise i\'d cause this much trouble! lol.
thanks for the advice guys, i\'m going with jimmys cause he could have it ready sooner than hayward, plus he\'s closer. when i\'m ready to go for more power i will go to haywards as he really seemed to know his stuff and was very confident about his work. all in all they both we\'re very helpfull and i would be glad to have either work on my car.
i\'m new to rotarys but not to tuning jap cars, my last one won best car at show in the gt4 owners club challenge weekend(drag and track) so i should be able to spot any shoddy work.
thanks again,
sonic

but it wasnt really his opinion, he gave it as the general concences of the forum.

let me know how you get on as i was thinking of going to jimmys aswell because it closer.

His opinion was that there was a general consensus!
end of the day we all have our favourite tuners/engine builders. For every negative report that someone spouts on the forum there will be x number of happy customers. I personally go with RX Motors, but that is because I got a good initial "vibe" from Tim and Matt when I was first looking for a rebuild. I also have a lot of time for Carl Hayward, but as Tim built my engine I always have additional work done by him.
Quote from: teabaggerWGT or Carl Hayward are generally considered the best.
cant see any opinion here.
Sonic, you use who you feel comfortable with and who is most convenient, I have used most of the tuners over the last 15 years of rotary ownership and they all have good points and like any other line of business have their bad points.
If you were to ask 100 different rotary owners you would find several didnt answers. Teabaggers comments are his opinon, i dont disagree, both pip (WGT) and Carl (Haywood) have been in the game a long time and certainly know their stuff. Just wanted to make sure you wern\'t misled!
I have an RX Motors built engine, been in for 2 years running 500+ bhp. A full rebuild from them costs (the last time I checked) £2100+ VAT only trouble is their near Blandford in Dorset.
Look, I didn\'t mean it to look like I was speaking for the whole forum, obviously that wouldn\'t be right and it wasn\'t my intention. Apologies to those that took it that way, having re read my earlier post I can understand why some people saw it that way. However I think it\'s fair to say I have read far more recommendations for the two I mentioned than anyone else and I don\'t think it\'s unreasonable to point that out. I chose Carl to do my rebuild because he came so highly recommended on this board despite the fact that Jimmys is under half the distance. Please realise I have nothing against those guys at all but I hear nothing but praise for the work Carl and Pip do. Whether or not someone thinks it\'s worth the extra distance is up to them.

Likewise, i\'m not knocking anyone or supporting anyone, your above post clears it up well :cheers . I was just trying to give the guy the full picture. If nobody else posted he would take what ever is posted as read. Whoever does it you will have much fun and no money when you start modding. Enjoy it :driving

Reads like its a general opinion, I am sure there are plenty of rotary owners that have not had the experience of the 2 mentioned and are quite happy with the results. As stated before, comments like that make this forum seem like a closed shop I\'m sure most people take time and trouble to research who is best without having \'this guy is best, or dont go to this guy\'. Dont think I have anything to leave out:Giggle
well my engine was rebuilt at jimmies and now done 5000 miles with no probs whatso ever so very happy. Compression checked at WGT and was very high as expected. You just have to go who you are comfortable with and within your price range. Enjoy those anxious waiting days or weeks, its like waiting for a baby to be born when waiting for the rebuild to finally spark into life.
