hi fellas,
right well heres the story,
i have had my car sitting for about 2 months and in this time this is what happened,
in my car i had stripped out the dash and resprayed it, bought a new battery as it would not start then it did:p
i drove it round for an hour and all was fine with pressure and temps,
i then had it sitting for a further fortnight or so while i fitted a greddy fmic, polished elbow and greddy pulley kit,
i have then this morning filled up all fluids started my car and the oil pressure gauge went mental!! it was bouncing all over the place when the car was running so i quickly switched off, and when i turn on the igition (without starting) it just sits right up there as if its off the gauge!!
could this be for the fact it has just been sitting there and the sender had ballsed up or something worse:confused: ???
ps i have a dmoni aftermarket gauge fitted and this is what i use as i have read all the horror stories about the stock gauge
any help much appreciated
lee
If you\'re using the OE sender unit that is probably the problem, I don\'t think there is anything wrong with the standard gauges, it\'s the sender units that cause the problems.
so do you think if i were to start it up an run it for a while it may sort itself out? just thinking that coz its ben sat so long all the oil has settled and needs circulatin?
Do you have a sandwich plate? or are you using the original Oil pressure sender unit?
to be honest mate i aint sure??:Hammer the gauge was fitted when i bought the car,
i am a bit stupid when it comes to these things so can ya tell me when to look please?
excuse my stupidity
cheers:Laugh
does the car have an after market oil pressure guage or are you refering to the stock mazda one in the dash?
if its the stock mazda one, the sender is a big round brass looking thing located just under the oil filter on the passenger side. There should be a crimp typre plug with one wire, check its connected securely.
If its an aftermarket gauge, then you need to find out where the sender is, its normally a sandwich plate directly under the oil filter.
sweet thanks mate i will have a look in the morning,
it is an aftermarket one i am going off, i tried it again before and it seems to of settled down a bit now but it is still up and down even with the car not running!!
the stock one does not even move so it must be the sender then i hope!! lol
which is another problem i have coz the damn thing wont even start now!!!:Grrr
