Title: A quick question for all you automatic fd owners
Post by: ttpower on April 17, 2007, 10:06:00 PM
in the passenger foot well near the ecu is there an automatic transmission module that has big fat blue connector plugging into it and maybe a small blue one as well?

reason asking cause my car wont start and not getting any live feed from the starter motor, i think cause the way auto\'s run it must plug into another module and run back out so it can read if its in neutral and start. correct me if im wrong!

Behind the ECU is the ATECU (auto trans ecu), maybe this is it. Some preconditions have to be met before you can start, one of them is the selector has to be in either N or D.
Cant remember the rest.

It may sound silly but try turning the key on slowly.

hi framey thanks for that info, what colour are the plugs going into the auto ecu, is there two connectors for it, one one blue one with wide pins and one smallish one??

Crikey not sure mate.
I just recently bought a spare gearbox and atecu, but cant remember seeing a small one - only a large blue one.
I\'m at work at the mo so will try and see for you later?

Have you tried slightly moving the selector around when trying to start? Maybe the sensors for the selectors have worked loose or something?

soreted it mate, the big blue connector is for the atcu and the small blue one for auto cars is for controls on the starter motor and igntion coils. Ther loom i took out of the manual car was actually a manual cut up for a manual conversion. Sorted it now, just going to change the whole ring harness for the correct manual rather then splicing and fooling the ecu.
