Hi people, basically i had a nasty engine fire from which i had to change all the loom (engine, sub harness and main body loom). When removing the main loom on the drivers side i had to cut wires to the alarm to pull the burnt loom through. When i cut the wires i cut them in places so i knew where i would put them back on the new loom. Done all this and the car doesnt crank over, lights come on the dash, the alarm seems to be working as it goes off and the red light goes off when i hit the key on the alarm fob. The alarm is a clifford concept 300. Could it be the alarm needs reprogramming or something, i dont have a clue about alarms!! I thought it was the starter motor at first so i took a live feed from the battery with the ignition in the on position and placed it on the solinoid on the starter motor and it cranked over perfect, and fuel also came through! is it the immobiliser?? Is there anyway of connecting a live feed from somewhere on the ignition barrel to the starter motor so it bypasses the alarm/immobiliser?
Sorry about the long thread, any shed of light to this would help tremendously. :Thumbs-up :Thumbs-up
Im based in Wilmslow near manchester so if any of you know any good auto electricians that could come have a look without burning a hole through my pocket let me know, cheers.
Are you sure the battery is 100% ive just had an engine swap in my fd and had the same problem, we knew the battery had seen better days but the car wouldnt start even with a booster conected so tried a new battery and away she went.
Cheers Danny
hi ozzy, thanks for the info. I fired the starter motor over with a direct feed from the postive terminal on the battery, does it draw more current when it trys to turn over from the key side!! i\'ll give it a try mate, thanks.
