Title: FD Fluid Capacities
Post by: JohnnyP on April 14, 2007, 11:20:06 PM
Can someone list all the fluid capacities for the fd? I\'ve had a search but thought it might be a good idea to have them in one place.

Coolant
Oil
Gearbox
Diff
Brakes

Thanks.

Figures all seem fine except oil, I have never known any RX to fill with 3.5 ltrsUK or Jap, I maybe wrong, check oil to be sure, it\'s always been more like 4.5 to 4.7 to me. If you drain oil coolers its more like 7ltrs. Just keep an eye on it.

I usually end up with just under a liter left from my oil change from the 5liter tub - so mines usually around 4.2 liters for the engine oil.

coolant im gonna attempt tomorrow   :D

Actually i recently changed my engine oil, and it was 3.8litres with filter.
Normally the recommendations say 4,7 all the way into 5.3litres. But after the change i wanted to look up from the service manual. And it stated 3.8l with filter and 3.5l w/o filter.

(For dry Engine, the values were somewhere around 4.7litres)

Its a FD3S-301 Type-R with twin oil coolers.

Quick question on the capacities, specifically the gearbox oil....

I\'ve just emptied mine and refilling it by the filler plug and according to the manual it should drip out when full at around 2.5L (typical fill method i believe).... However, i\'ve got 3 litres in mine now and it\'s not coming back out the filler hole!?!?!? anyone know if this is erm normal ???

There are no leaks and the seals are fine, it\'s not coming out in the bellhousing or around the drive-shaft??

It\'s ok ignor me, d\'oh i used the "star" bolt to fill it up not the square one, so undid the proper fill point and funnily enough oil drained out lol :Hammer:2Rolleyes ....

Anyone no the effects of filling up with the one to the left of the actual filler bolt or wont it matter ???
