Title: Whay will PORTING do?
Post by: tguillemin on April 12, 2007, 10:23:19 PM
hello all

My rebuild is afoot, taken it to see carl at hayward rotary, and am having some extra bits and bobs done to my beloved.

installing an apexi fc with commander, apparently giving an extra 70-80 bhp,
and having a street port done, now i know what this consists of, but what kind of increase would I get in horses an torque.

Any ideas??????????????????

cheers guys
Tobias

It\'s like putting some wild cams in a pistion engine.  It alters the way power if deliveried to the engine.

depends on the extent of the port.  street port is a vague term really.

probably best to speak to carl and discuss what sort of porting he is going to do and give you estimates on the type of power you can expect.

I took my Car to Carl, and he did something like enlarging the exhaust port, and enlarging the secondary ports...the idea is to keep some kind of fuel economy when cruising...dunno if it\'ll work, just running it in now, only another 1250 miles to go!

I\'ve had the same done to mine, it was a mild street port. I\'ve got 750 left on my run in. Did you have the 3mm seals too?

Yup, I will probably go single in the future so Carl said he\'d build it with 3mm rotor tips. He doesn\'t build single turbo engines with 2mm tips.

I\'d already got the commander and Expexi ECU (with the base map). Not sure of my increase as yet, think I should see around the 330ATF.
My run in period is 2000 miles, up to 3000RMP for the first 500 then oil change and new filter then the remaining 1500 miles to 4000RMP.
Got 600 miles left before I take it down to be mapped.
