Title: breaking cabriolet its a minter
Post by: FD3SNuttah on April 12, 2007, 07:19:58 PM
i cant be bothered to finish it, so im gaugin interest, if theres enough ill break it. its got the following stuff.

alloy bonnet of course.

engine is fine got 7.5s all round when i did my ghetto compression test. it starts hot and cold and doesnt use water. you can hear it running if you want. the hood has a couple of rps but i bet you could fix those

the car has mint black leather seats with red piping, (not the speakers in the headrest wierd lookin things).

stainless mandrel bent exhaust from the cat back

17 BBS rims from an FD type RZ comes with correct sized spacers for the front.

s5 lights etc.

the shell is mint with no rust what so ever and its pretty dent free. the roof has seen better days but no one will notice if its down eh!?

you can pm me or post in here if your after parts. or if you want to discuss then you can email me - addy on profile.

BTW, does the car have strut braces? If it does, I\'d be very interested in those also.

At the rate you bods are breaking these things for parts - there\'s only going to be a few of us left :2eek

With summer coming - can\'t you sell the whole car as a \'project to finish\' - if you can demonstrate the engine running, it must be close to roadworthy :driving

Poor old cabby :(

hawker dont wanna be a tight git but you aint a member. if you buy membership you can have dibs on the bonnet...

if i want to sell it all on in one bit then id need a grand. finding someone that will pay that for a whole car is going to be difficult so breaking it.....

i only need to get rid so i can afford my respray on the FD.

here is a pic.

as you can see the body is straight and you\'ll have to trust me that the underneath is bloody good. its had that rediculous rear spoiler removed and s5 rear lights put on. the late spec FD BBS rims are fitted in this picture as well. no it doesnt have strut braces dude. but its got an auto diff on there it will accelerate better but compromise the top speed slightly than a manual.

lol i know dude, but cmon you been here a while become part of the fun and then you will see nuff benefits, its only 25 quid? do you still have the manuals  and any history for it? ill buy the postage and give you a fiver if you send it me!! thats enough for two beers!!!!

a lot of work has gone into it, i never done anything like this before i only knew how to change brake pads and do oil changes, now its a manual with an S5 engine. and i rewired it all as well.

here are some pics of the swap i did took the old engine and GB out and did the rest the work myself apart from the bit where a mate and his bro popped round to help me install the new engine cos i couldnt do it on my own. i didnt break anything during the swap.

looking at these pics is kinda making me change me mind now aarrrgghhhh!

keep it !!! looks too good to break if its that good underneath, just what else do u need to do to finish it ? it cant be that much and you would double your money.
But if it goes to the heavens then i will let you know cos the one i picked up is ok,bit of work underneath(ok a lot) but the body is very good. just showing the signs of being stood for 18 months !!

If it\'s going to be broken and parted (I feel terrible asking on such an nice shell) but would you be willing to cut/have cut off the front corners of the sills (about a foot back and up) -to be welded on to an 89 turbo II coupe shell?

I promise it would be a worthy sacrifice to give a second life to what will be a cracking showcar quality coupe :)

hi mate

i couldnt bring myself to cut this mint shell. besides IIRC the floor plan is slightly different to the coupes.

ive decided to hang on a while, im off to the scrappers tomorrow to get the bits i require to finish it. ill see if i can get it fixed and then see it it will pass the MOT.

sorry to waste your time like this lads, i got to thinking that i am giving up too easily and with the weather we having......

Couldn\'t find an FC with this music - but you get the sentiment all the same - a day like yesterday is why you should not sell a convertible ;)

haha how did you know that i LOVE that tune!!! im sure its the tune that guy is listening to while driving his ferrari at the start of the original italian job film?!

yeah i know what you mean Prof, i seen all these people out in cabrios yesterday and i got jealous, while i was sat frying in my bloody hot as hell FD (you wont believe how hot it gets in an FD).

i got my clutch master now from the breakers then its simply a matter of fitting all the interior and tidying up the electrics fixing quite a few other things (lol) and getting it MOT\'d.

the only problem there is finding the time to do it!

Yeah the music reminds me of the italian job too. Although just for the record its not a ferrari he is driving it a lamborghini Miura. I hate it when people get that wrong! (im so sad!)
Good choice to keep the car insted of breaking it by the way T2N

Man thats a nice car. Totally floored in its design but all good super cars are in some way or other. Still can\'t believe that they destroyed it.

lol adereed sorry bout that!

ive decided that when i get it on the road ill make a film of my first drive. just hope that i dont end up in a big fireball like the guy on film.... im gonna equip the car with a fire extinguisher just in case of that rewiring job i did!!!

wouldnt it be ace if we organised an MRC drive to another country and back - those kind of roads look much better to me than the nurbergring.  you know made a proper holiday of it or something....
