Title: Quick Apexi PFC question...
Post by: Jim_rx7 on April 12, 2007, 12:59:37 PM
FD3S2
FD3S4

What\'s the difference between these two? They are both for the 92 to 95 cars. the S2 is listed as old, and the S4 as new.

Are they both compatable with my 92 FD?

cheers in advance!!

Jim

I thought I\'d just ask another few questions here instead of starting another Apexi PFC thread.

I should be getting an Apexi PFC this week from someone who had on it their car which was stock with the exception of a de-cat running at 0.8bar boost.

My car is a UK car with a pre-cat still on the car, with the main cat removed. Running Blitz Induction kit and XS power SMIC.

Obviously, the ECU will not be mapped to run on my car, but my question is, would the Apexi base map run safely on my car?

Another question, it is the ECU only, no commander. How can I reset it to the base map? Is it possible without the commander?

Cheers,

Jim

so I could just reset it ...... which leads me back to... how do I reset it? Do I need the commander to do so? Is it possible to reset it?

How safe is safe?... lol.

I think you reset the Apexi by disconecting the battery, pressing the brake pedal, then reconnecting the battery.

You will then have to go through the Apexi\'s learning process again. Which is start the car, let the idle settle, leave it for 20 minutes, then turn on the rear de-mister, leave it for 20 minutes, then turn on the air-con and leave it for 20 minutes.

How safe is safe? Much safer than a standard ECU, you can run an induction kit and exhaust without any problems, you will probably be okay with an upgraded SMIC too...but to get the most out of it you need to get it mapped. If you are really paranoid, drive it off boost until you can get it mapped.
