Title: Is this power figure about right?
Post by: D2BBA on April 10, 2007, 04:29:58 PM
Howdy peeps,

Just got the car mapped and dynod at WGT and i thought i\'d run the power figure past you fellas and see if its about right.  Also not sure what mods to go for next to up it a bit without getting too unreliable ;)

BHP= 311 @ fly (unsure as to how much boost its set to until I pick her up)

Mods:

Power FC
Greddy down pipe
Non-silenced mid-pipe
Large bore backbox
Uprated SMIC (not ducted and getting replaced ASAP)
Mazdaspeed plugs and coil
Twin HKS filters
Greddy profec B spec II

Thanks in advance
Chris (Dobba)

I\'d say that\'s quite conservative, but what do I know.

My brothers has the same spec apart from no boost controller or greddy downpipe and he has the OE airbox, running at 0.9 bar he got 320 at the fly which was 265 at the wheels.

Better to be safe than sorry though :)

Without knowing the boost it is difficult to say.

How old is the engine?

Your non ducted SMIC may be a bottleneck.

Im currently running 304.7 @fly and thats with a decat, hks twin filters, an apexi and a racing beat back box. Oh and I\'m mapped to 0.8 bar.

I think there is a bit more to it than that, Its bound to be on the Safe side anyway but do you have any Fuel mods? Is that on a fresh rebuild? (good compresion/Clean Injectors/Good compresion) All makes a diffrence.

Hi guys,

No fuel mods, thats it for the mo.  Pip mentioned that the SMIC was a problem, so ive purchased one that\'ll take the standard ducting.

The engine is on about 54K miles, however compression is 7.5 all round.

Are you sure itll drop to as low as 265bhp through the transmission?

I would say it is tuned on the safe side. Mine is on the original engine at 45,000mile running 3" stainless dp, silenced mp and wgt backbox, trust smic and intake, mine made 320 flywheel or 271 at the wheels on stock injectors and pump.

pip is renowned for safe mapping (not a bad thing ) ,think drop from fly to hubs is 16%.mines 305rwhp and 360 fwhp but have additional twin 550 injectors & uprated fuel pump

Hi Pete,

Sorry I missed you on Saturday, as you can guess my car is still at Pips, and Andy\'s ws still at the painters.  Popped down in my bro\'s mx5.  Show was a bit dissapointing this year.

Anywho, back to the plot.  How much would I be looking at roughly in £££s for uprating the fuel system as per yours (pump and larger injectors)?

Your car is seriously dirty! Interesting look though. I quite like that rear light cover sticky out bit on the back.

I\'ll take dirty as a compliment, lol...although it could do with a clean too!

Thats a slightly modified RE:Ammeiya rear light cover / spoiler on the back.

Just picked up the car from Pips last night, loving it!

Know what you mean about the dirty bit now Stylus, apparantly when it arrived via low loader it was filthy!  Wouldnt care but i had it spotless for the trip!!!

Pip got the "youth" to clean it for me prior to pick up tho!

Good work all round:)
