Title: F1 Auto.net ???
Post by: N777CK T on April 09, 2007, 04:45:57 PM
Hi, my first post here!

Just been looking at a few RX7s to buy and come across F1 Autos...
anyone know if they are a reputable company to buy imports from?
Are the top importers part of a "group" (like the charter mark kinda thing if you know what i mean?) I think i once read somwhere that there is such a thing?

Also if an RX7 has just been imported and has done over 60,000 miles how can you tell if it has had a rebuild?
I ask because normally when cars are imported they never turn up with service history from Japan etc...

Thanks. Nick. :Thumbsup!

to be honest ive had a quick look there... most of them are highly modified and i\'d prefer a near standard one otherwise the insurance will cripple me...

im looking to spend about £4-5,500 on the car and it needs to be a 1995 N-reg or newer for my private number plate...?
obviously low mileage or rebuild needed...

this one i\'ve seen on F1 Auto.net is a 1997 Type-RB with 69k miles for £6,225

this is the kind of thing im looking for but preferably cheaper and with less miles or a rebuilt engine - but as this is a fresh import how could i tell if the engine has been rebuilt? im guessing they keep their cars well in Japan so it probably HAS had a rebuild but i want to be on the safe side...

Bloody hell!

What do people want for their money these days!!

In my experience, finding a nice condition, standard car for £5 is pretty difficult, impossible 18 months ago. You may be lucky.

Look for posts in the for sale section by chris, he may still have a car or sale, not sure.

You can find modded cars for that money but standard cars are pretty few and far between to be honest.

well i dont mind it being slightly modded... but JDM look only... not some shabby max power job!
im sure you know what i mean...
in my experience it can be done!
this would have been perfect if it were still for sale :(

well if you want an import thats fairly standard and with a proper rebuild, look no further than super7autos. the cars may be pricier than most...but id urge you to look past the price tag and actually at how clean the cars are and to what spec the rebuild is..... if id known about those cars sonner, id have definitely bought one from him.

Hey dude, hes actually got 8-9 cars in stock at  the moment the last time I was down there and they start from 7k not 9k!! 7k for a rebuilt rx7 rebuilt to a very good standard sounds like money well spent to me. They can be had cheaper than this for "rebuilt" rx7s but you dont always know what your getting!

Hi mate, i brought my RX7 from F1 autos 5 weeks ago, payed £5300 for it and never looked back. Have had it remapped for english fuel and had the cat taken off but apart from that its brilliant. The car has 60,000 miles on it so i took it to WGT for a comp test and got above 7 on both rotors.

I havent had any problems with them.

nice one danny... did f1 know that it had had a rebuild done or did you have to risk it with that mileage?
what did you make sure to look for when buying?
oh also - just so i know how much is possible to haggle with them... how much was the car up for?#

i think rogue motorsport are nearest to me in portsmouth? (i live 10 miles or so away)
how much would they charge to do a comp test for me and genereally check over the car?

thanks
nick :)

F1 didn\'t know if it had had a rebuild or not. Before i went down to see the car i put a post on here to find out what to look for and just made sure every thing was fine on the car. I didn\'t try to haggle really as the car was in such good condition and has quite a few well chosen mods on it.

You could try to haggle if you want i suppose.

Good luck.

Carrington got any pics of your car?
what year is it and how good was the condition of it?
Did you need to pay a deposit to look at yours!?
Did you take yours for a test drive first?

Hi mate, heres a link to the post i did.

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34725&highlight=buying+RX7 (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34725&highlight=buying+RX7)

After the boost issues at the bottom of the page it turned out that there was no pills fitted in the wasteagte lines. I have only had 1 problem with the car and that was a water pipe split (the small 1 just behind the alternator). I have never looked back. At the end of the day the car is amazing and in my opinion if the engine needs rebuilding i can build it to my spec and i have saved on all the aftermarket parts i would have brought for it anyway.

Hope this helps.
Danny
