Title: Need information on a control unit
Post by: Oliver on April 08, 2007, 08:06:07 PM
I am having trouble finding the function of this control unit located under the dash on the passanger side.
I have looked in the Manual but not having any luck. Does anyone know what it is used for or what page I could find it?

Part number  N3A7 18 701

Thanks
Oliver

No idea what it does...parts manual just states \'Control Unit\'! Can\'t find it in the manual either.

Thanks for taking the time to help guys.

Fish, it\'s on a 92 FD imported from Japan.
Probedb, I did a parts search as well and found the same as you.

I traced 2 of the wire this morning, one (green/black wire) goes to the ECU and the other (black/white wire) splits, to the relay/fuse block and dianostics unit. I will go back and try to trace the pin number on that ECU wire to find out what it does...

Thanks again,
Oliver

Oliver, try emailing Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda in the US (hmkparts@aol.com), he\'ll know what it does :) Tho in the US parts manual it starts N3A1.

Its a tough one to work out, had me scratching my head for a while, when stripping down looms etc. Why do you need to know what it does?

Probedb,
Thanks for the email address for Malloy Mazda, I will try and contact them. I noticed today on my \'94 FD (US model ) that it has a different box and part number than the 92 jspec. The \'94 part number has N3Z1 18 701.

Dragon,
I\'m building a race car and removing everything that will not be used. I am finding out this is going to take a bit more time than I had hoped... and makes it harder when manuals don\'t list everything or atleast I haven\'t found it yet. Noticed the \'Control unit\' in question has a green/black wire going to the ECU on the \'92 Jspec but on my \'94 US model, it does not go to the ECU!
Scratching my head alot! :3Confused

Regards
Oliver

Just wanted to add a photo of the same control unit, with a different part number from my \'94 US model in hope that someone might know what it is used for. Again, it is located under the dash on the passanger side behind the ECU.

Jspec unit - N3A7 18 701
US model  - N3Z1 18 701

Thanks

Today, I search the manual somemore and found out that the control unit maybe called the E/L unit or Electrical load control unit. When I have more time, I will trace the wires and see if I am 100% correct.

If anyone can help me comfirm this, that would be great.
Thanks
