Title: 52mm gauge hole size
Post by: Alex on April 07, 2007, 08:54:23 PM
Might sound a bit dopey, but what size hole does a 52mm gauge need in the area its going to be fitted into?

I\'m just scoping out a hole saw to put some holes in a bit of a project and could do with knowing whether it\'s a 52mm that\'s needed or different.  Most of the hole saw sets seem to have a 51mm bit, which would be good if a 52mm gauge could fit through the hole.

Cheers for any help :god

What are you cutting ?  If it is plastic dash trim 51 mm will be sweet because you can wedge the guage in and it will not twist or move once you seat it.  I always drill 1mm less when installing a guage in something plyable..

It\'s plastic, so that\'s the perfect answer.  Nice one!

Cheers for that

Drill it out to 50mm then sand out to the correct size for a nice tight fit.
