anyone would think i like running cars in or something, aint as if i have much choice.
my engine has just thrown a tip again, yippee:3Confused :3Confused. not the fuel pump this time though. think it is the turbo.
was having problems with turbo, think the oil seal had gone. was going up to pips on tuesday to get turbo rebuilt. but then this morning the engine decided to go pop. so now there are 2 things to rebuild
when i checked the shaft play a few days ago and it was next to nothing and now there is rather a lot, so i think it has done something funny and thrown something into the housing.
ow well will know more when the block comes apart.
Oh dear, know the feeling... I think I have water seal failure. Just checking the parts list from Newera, £1.5 k :-(
dude, your really not having much luck :(
Sorry to hear that man....how dyou know its knackred? or is it obvious lol?

what the engine or turbo? engine because it has blatantly gone!!! running on one rotor, and hugely lumpy where it is running off balance. same as last time.
turbo, because of the blue smoke i was getting on start up. and now the excessive shaft play.
:( youve not had much luck with that car :(
Is pip covering it I assume?
his turbo supplier will be i am hoping
oh for those that dont know this will be my 3rd engine within 7000 miles. and about 3 months
I thought I was having bad luck with 2 in a year but 3 in 3mths beond belief.

More likely that the engine failure would have damaged the turbo when parts went through the turbine from the engine.

Carl
Sam,
Really sorry to hear about this further complication. Mate, a good excuse to get some serious porting though, half bridge ??
Out of interest, when anyone suffers an engine failure, and ithas caused damage to the housings, turbos, etc - so there is swarf in the oil - what do you do with the oil coolers?
Do you flush or replace? I learnt long ago that the best thing to do when you suffer a failure like this is to replace the coolers. You can get a lot of debris in the oil. Flushing may work, or it may not.
It might be a reason why people suffer further engine failures in such a short time after replacing a unit? Especially if you keep the same oil coolers/don\'t flush them.
I\'m sure an expert will clarify this but i think that when a seal goes, its within the compustion chambers and out the exhaust port and through the turbo, hence damaging the blades. There isnt much in the front (compressor side) of the turbo to go through the engine, if the little nuts holding the comp wheels are on there and the blades are intact it is unlikely to have gone through especially as it has to squeeze through the intercooler aswell.
Hope you get it sorted, does sound like bad luck
Sam you should concider using my PTS seals

They would have saved your turbo and any damage caused to housings.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck.
All the engine rebuilds Ive had have never had the coolers replaced, or flushed for that matter.
Good point though

i will know more when pip has the block appart etc.
i am running a pretty big street port as is, and nicely ported intakes etc. dont think pip will do a half bridge for road use, i heard that he wouldnt recomend it. it is all down to warrantees etc for me. as it is my only car at the mo, fuel costs would pay a huge part to, running a half bridge would leave me with some mental fuel bills etc.
although a half bridge would def help with this privateers drag comp :evillaugh :evillaugh.
when my engine went before it didnt cause the turbo any problems at all, it got sent off to be checked. but all was fine. but like i said, will see when pip opens it up
back on the recovery truck it goes.
think if i could include the millage done on the back of a recovery truck i could double the millage done since first rebuild :2Confused :2Confused
Ask them for air miles LOL
Jesus, I\'m almost scared to drive mine home now lol!

Unless you have a massive blow-up there should be no cross contamination from the dead tips/seals/turbo to the oil system. By massive we\'re talking holes through to the oil cooling channels!
It\'s not the same thing as when a boinger lets go and shoves a con-rod through the side of the bolck!
Sh!t Sam thats seriously bad news...lets hope Pip sorts things out for you...
I’m gutted for you mate. I know what it feels like:Grrr . Hope you are back on the road soon.

Cheers, that makes sense.
