We took 6 days to drive back. Stopped of at a GT race track In Belgium (Zolder) as we were invited by a Mazda race team who were racing there over the weekend. They were in 3rd place until driver change, then it all went wrong! Some mechanic put his had on a load of switches and killed the car for almost 50 seconds Longer than it should have been in! Fool. Then to top it all, after another 5 or 6 laps a coil went down. So that was the end of that!!!!
Anyway, I took one of the drivers out in the Mazda for a spin. He crapped his self and said If I had the engine in his race car it would have won outright! It\'s a ****ing MAD machine now! Too Mad for the road.
Left there on the Monday Morning, and made our way through Luxembourg, and then on into Switzerland and stayed there the night. That\'s not a cheap place! From there, we made our way on and on to Italy, Modena, booked in a hotel there, and went to find the Ferrari factory and Museum! This area of Italy is a bloody nightmare to find your way around! It\'s like a massive spaghetti junction, roads going everywhere. Take the wrong one and your off for miles, just where you don\'t wanna go. Deep joy! We found it in the end. Got some great photo shots, funny thing was as people were coming out of the Museum, they were more interested in taking pics of the RX7 heheheh! So much for Ferrari. Still I thought there were some stunning cars in there. Some Ferrari\'s I have never seen. Millions of pounds worth of cars to look around. Worth the visit. By the way Italy is NOT cheap either.
It was now raining, Deep joy again! As the RX7 has some nice road legal slicks all round and with all that power you have to nurse it along, which ain\'t easy. The following day, before setting off down through Italy I decided to see if I could gate crash the Zonda factory. More fun finding that place. We arrived again in the rain on a small industrial estate and found the factory. As the car makes such a wicked noise, one or two of the staff from the factory came out to check out the car. I grabbed the opportunity to ask if I could have a look around. No problem they said. So, we Went into this small showroom where 2 new Zonda\'s were parked, WOW! They are some machines. Totally out of this World. The attention to detail is outstanding to say the least. And the quality " stunning". I WON\'T ONE! 650BHP and 700BHP of AMG Merc engine power. But 700000 Euro is just a couple of hundred Euro out of my price range. I wish! He did not let us take pics in the factory but they make the whole thing there, not just bolt the bits together. Carbon fiber shop was very interesting to look around. We watched the ladies lay this stuff around the moulds ready for the ovens. Looked at the frames being made up. It takes about a month to put a car together, and theres a year waiting list. Anyway, they are just about Turing out 15 a year. We were also told there is a new model on it\'s way soon, and a race version to. We totally loved the car! As we were leaving, he said, this one hear belongs to the guy who owns the company Mr Pagarni, as you would imagine it has all the extras on it! Would like to sit in and have a try! Guess what I said, I suppose I could force myself! I was in it before he finished asking I think! He did allow us to take pics of the cars in the showroom, attached !!! To be posted!
So the trip goes on with much more fun and game to come. Do you wanna do it! ?????
So ends this episode one of our trip back, will post more later. If you want that is!
:WaveBye
Top stuff. Sounds like you\'re having a good time. Sometimes it can be a nightmare to drive in europe. I almost crashed into a tram in Brussels and got lost a million times. Have you tested the car on the German de-restricted roads? Roads leading up to Berlin are meant to be good.
