Hi guys I have a problem with my car :(
Basically the other day I started her up an let her warm up then after around 5 minutes or so when i returned to the car I noticed that my boost gauge was at 0.9 and the red light was on. When i blipped the throttle it reset to normal and everything was ok.
Then tonight I have been out and I began to have problems. When I open her up my boost only reaches 0.5 and there is no pull what so ever and I have not second turbo (I guess because the 1st never reaches full boost?)
It is intermittent though as on a couple of occasions she will sudenly hit 0.9 and the second turbo kicks in but then drops very quickly after the short burst and doesn\'t maintain pressure.
So can anyone help please and point me in the right direction. I am thinking along hoses the ususal but I am confused as to why my boost gauge read 0.9 at idle :xconfused and is intermitant.
Your expert help would be greatly appreciated :god
maybe a boost spike, is it actually spooling the 2nd turbo to 0.9bar? deffo a vac pipe prob somewhere id say, best thing you can do on a old car is to replace all the hose n checkvalves lol.. starting mine tomoz as i have a broken one causing a lag between 2nd tub kick in lol..
Thx for the reply inter.
Well my guage says it reaches 0.9 and on the occsasion when it does reach it for the odd short burst it pulls like it should. BUT it is very intermittant and rare to hit the second tubby as usually I only get 0.5 on the 1st tubby.
split hose then bud :) found out tonite from Mike that when the engines running, you cn hear a hissing noise from the plenum? on mine thats where the valve is broke, thought i cud hear hissing but mike cinfirmed it, deffo a leek :) easy fix for me lol
It\'s a **** of a job to replace all the vac hoses is it not? I have some boost leak somewhere too!
take your time and do 1 at a time.. not hard just teedius lol.. go on jim you cn do it :P
I would do it mate, just don\'t know where they all are!!!
Feel free to do a walk through with pics?
take the plenum off and there all there lol, well most of um :)
Ah really?? lol.
Didn\'t know that.
Now what\'s the plenum??
look at yer engine, right at the bck in the middle the large grey part, connects to the throttle n joins onto the intercooler pipe work..

No idea how to remove this... gonna start a how to remove it thread. Feel free to post. :)
you need to remove the elbow and interccoler pipe to the right of it, 4 bolts for the throttle thing plus a few hoses n oil line me tinks, them 6ish bolts on the plenum and about 6 vac hose, the earth cable and a few plugs to disconnect, then under the plenum theres another plug, this is the hardest one to remove cus theres no real play in the cable.. have fun :) polish it once its off lol
Not sure best place to get the hoses, someone a tell you or do a search?
Make sure you dont pull the old vac pipes off they are very brittle, slice them with a sharp blade, as you will be buying new solenoids at £40.00 a go, lots of posts about doing this job on here. just noticed this has already been said!
ok cheers.
How do you check if any valves are faulty when in there?
