Ok...
My car sort of bounces a bit at 30pmh in 4th when cold. Someone suggested it could be the diff mounts. (I\'ve still to get this checked out).
I noticed when coming to a standstill sometimes I hear a clunk sound as if something is moving forward and clunking.
Anyone got any ideas? Could it be the diff mounts? Kinda sounds like what calipers sound like if they\'ve stuck and you drive and they pop off (if that makes sense?).
Anyone got any clever ideas?
cheers! :)
is it your calipers lol they tend to bind a bit if not used very moocho..
I thought that... but not too sure tbh.
Have you looked under the car. Get it jacked up and poke around a bit. Don\'t forget to axle stand it though!!

oh did i not tell you that lol
Sounds like the propshaft joints are worn, but may be diff mounts or similar.

If it us the prop shaft joints, what\'s needed to be done to resolve it?
Diff mounts easy enough fix.

Speaking from other RWD car experience: the prob usually connects to the gearbox output shaft and the diff by two universal joints (I\'[ve not yet looked under the Rx to see exactyl what is under there but it must be someting similar). These UJ\'s do wear and can move in the bearings makeing a knocking noise. Often this is heard when you run really low rvs in a high gear.
usually the fix is pretty easy, undo the bolts hlding the uj to diff and gearbox (depending which end is worn), the remove the Uj from prob, then bolt new one and bingo.
It would bea half hour job on my last car.
when you look underneath check the joints on the prob shat for movement.
Cheers mate, will get it looked at soon.
How much are these universal joints for the prop shaft? Where can I get them?
I\'d be intersested in knowing this to. Mine knocks at low revs and also on down shifts usually from 4th to third when the revs drop

Hi
I had a similar problem that caused a clunk noise to be generated from the rear suspension when I pulled up. Then when pulling away it gave a little clunk as the suspension returned to its running position. I had the car checked and a couple of the rear bushes had gone. Once these were replaced the rear end stopped making the noise.
Not sure if this will help, but it might.
I had a similar sound coming from the front... turned out it was a front suspension arm coming loose... tightened up, and all sorted :)
More likely to be bushes in rear suspension, the props do were but not as soon as the bushes.
