The other day there I pulled into the petrol station and sat idleing for a few minutes.
Switched the car off, filled with petrol, then the car wouldn\'t start. Would turn over etc, just not fire up!
I rolled forward at about 2mph and jump started it... all fine.
It\'s the first time it\'s happened to me and tbh got me a little worried!!
I only use the car for a few miles a day, and the spark plugs could be quite old.
I have heard only driving a few miles a day could result in flooding and duff spark plugs also. Saying that, I do have new spark plugs sitting here waiting to go in.
So... what do you reckon the prob was, and is it normal to be able to roll start it if it is flooded? I\'ll get the plugs done soon.
sounds like it flooded, which plugs are you running and how old are they?
Not a clue mate on both points.
Like I said, I have new ones here waiting to go in. I take it flooding on these beasties is quite common?
Can you usually roll start a flooded car? I was quite suprised how easily it jump started tbh... only about 2mph! lol.
I\'ve had this happen to a few car\'s, depends on how low the fuel is, if it\'s that low a vaccum builds up and cause\'s the fuel to be draged back to the tank when the filler cap is released, normally you get a hiss when the cap is removed..
It could have flooded if it was cold.
A tip I got from Martin Yates (Martiny) if the engine wasnt fully warm was to rev the engine to 2K and hold it and then turn it off on the key. I think the idea is that turning the key cuts the fuel, but the engine spinning down flushes out any excess fuel before it stops so it doesnt flood.
Works for me.

yeah, it was practically empty and did make a hiss noise when I opened the cap.
