Hi all,
I fitted a new steering wheel and quick release boss and now my horn randomly goes off whilst driving. I\'ve tried disconnecting the horn from the boss but it still randomly goes off :2eek it\'s more than embarrasing, everyone else on the road thinks I\'m a right cock tooting randomly :o
Anyhow I think there is a horn fuse (found that in the search) which I can pull but what else do I loose if I take that out?
Where is the actual horn itself, could I disconnect that instead?
Any help would be much appreciated
if you look at your front bumper, its to the right hand side at the bottom.. bit of a pain to get to m8, check the connections, sounds like a bad earth or connection..
Just tried to get at it, couldn\'t even see the bloody thing :2Confused :o
right next to the oil coolers lol it is a biatch to get at, bumper neds to come off but i was lucky, if you jack that side up you should just about beable to get at it n see it bud
ah ok, no hope of doing that now (removing bumper or jacking the car up). I need a quick fix if possible, will removing the fuse be ok for now (do you know what else I lose)?
Well I\'ve found the problem, I\'ve no idea how to fix it though :xconfused The rotating ring behind the steering wheel boss seems to sound the horn if you push against it :spank
you have wired the horn incorrectly. change the wiring around.
or insulate all the outside of any wires/conductive area with black tape. that will stop any connection being made.

I don\'t think I\'ve done anything wrong. When I press my horn button everything works correctly. I\'ve disconnected all the wires and I can still get the horn to sound by pushing against the connector that sticks out from that ring. I\'m fairly certain (i.e. I am certain but don\'t want to sound arrogant :D ) my wiring is 100% ok.
I\'ve used properly insulated soldered joints, insulated connectors and heat shrink where applicable. It seems this ring is of a poor design and because the new steering wheel boss presses against it slightly this causes the horn to go off :Hammer
It looks like the ring will come apart so I\'ll try and see if I can come up with a better solution than the OEM item when I get home. For now I\'ve pulled the hazard fuse in the drivers footwell, I can live without my hazard lights for a bit I hope :)
similar problem changed boss/steering wheel didnt connect horn up just taped wire often at start up sounded off - problem solved doesnt go off now - pity i dont know why havent done anything :3Confused

My guess is that you\'ve worn the plastic down so it doesn\'t really press against it much anymore - in the 2 short trips I\'ve done with the new steering wheel I can already see that the plastic is wearing in places (it also shows me the main place where the rubbing is occuring - full lock turning right)
i cut the wires on mine and made a new button for the horn.
the horn on these cars are pathetic and you cant even hear them over the engine!!!
horn problems?
viagra!
he he!

I think that\'s what I\'m going to do, you don\'t happen to remember which wire you had to cut do you? (or am I going to have to look throught the manual :3Confused )
