Title: intake temperature may go up...
Post by: michaelb on April 04, 2007, 08:01:26 PM
Hi All

I have bought HKS RS Induction Kit.  Yesterday at the meet at Ace Caffe, London after speaking to some people I was told the following which made sense:

Air box gets its air from out side of the engine thru the nose and after installing the Induction Kit the air will be drawn from the engine bay so the intake temp will be much higher, especially in the summer

I would like to create a cover / vacuum / funnel that will direct the air from the front of the nose to the filters…

Has any one done it and what materials did you use? Pictures?

Regards,
Michaelb

Induction kits will tend to suck in hot engine air. I\'m gonna get some cold air feeds set up etc once my intercooler is fitted.

Actually what kind of intake temps are you seeing at the moment as I never had a PFC untill I had already done mods?
Cheers

HI

Thanks for the shots.  Looks complcated to do...

May air intake temp is between 35c to 55c but I have not had the Apexi Pfc over the summer yet so I am sure that will go up a touch...that is with the stock air box and no Induction kit fitted yet...I have a de cat and air pump removed so far...

Is yours the Type R with twin oil coolers?
If not then take a cold air feed from where the left (as you look at fron of car) oil cooler would be.

Otherwise when you take out the air box you can modify the ducting slightly so that the cold air comes to the air filters aswell as the intercooler (this is how the standard air box works anyway isn\'t it.

Keep us posted.
(Eddie\'s car can be found in members section and he has photos of his install but only good if not type R)
