Post by: dazsir on April 04, 2007, 03:39:33 PM
Having to take my engine out (long story) can I take the engine and gearbox out as a whole?  Or do I have to split?

Any advice?

Split, but you can take it out whole if you need to have them both out.:Thumbsup!

I would think you would need to take it out with the subframe etc so that would be a pain.

Reminds me of a story I read about Colin Chapman (of Lotus, for you youngns) who when asked about production techniques on the Lotus Elite in 1959 and how the engine was installed. His answer was "We kick it up the *$$*"!!! exhaust pipe!"
Sorry, this hasn\'t got much to do with your question but I\'m at work bored.

I would think it\'s much the same. There are plenty of posts detailing what you need to do.

Cheers for the messages guys, the time frame is a month or so, as we are in the process of moving house and I am having a double garage built.  So I will pull both 7\'s side by side and swap the engines over.....

Basically my black car, was originally an AUTO that has been badly converted to manual, no change in wiring loom, so the ECU was having a panic (Pip\'s words) as the car was trying to find the auto ecu.

Bottom line is I bought another 7 to swap the engine into.  It destroyed a brand new Apexi PFC! Gutted! Been an expensive week!
