Title: Is this offset ok?
Post by: Jame5 on April 03, 2007, 02:03:40 PM
Found a set of wheels i like. All four are 17inch 9J, is this a problem? Can I fit say 255 tyres on back and 235 tyres on the front? The offset is 42 for all of them. Is this a problem again? Maybe put a spacer on the rear to make it look meaner?

Cheers

I think the offsets are fine, not sure about the tyres - I have 235s on front and 255s on rear but I don\'t know the width of my wheels (came with car).

Just done a quick search, found some random bbs rims off an fd: F)18X8J OFF+40 (R)18X9J OFF+40 fitted with (F)235/40/18 (R)265/35/18 respectively. Probably get more tyre on the rear I expect? Even though they\'re an inch bigger, shouldn\'t make any difference. Best off asking a tyre supplier to be sure, and test fitting the rims before you buy if poss!

Cheers memski. The rims currently have 235s on them so I\'ll prob ditch them and buy some Toyo R888s. :D

The width and offset will fit with no problems.

I have 8J front and 9J rear 17s, BBS LMs. 235/40 on the front, 255/45 on the rear (which are standard size for a Rex).

I know the rears are 42, i think the fronts are 40; i know they are a little different.

So they should be fine, but you need wider rears.

I am also looking to fit some 888s :yes

Standard 17s on my 96 FD are offset 50

Front 17x8 with 235/40
Rear 17x8.5 with 255/40

Tyre walls are dead straight, not buldging out or pulled across
