I think I may have a possible boost leak under load. Not 100% convinced tho.
When boosting the first turbo gets to 0.6bar and then it dips to 0.5 at 4500rpm and doesn\'t really do much else.
Also when I start the car and it does it\'s whole pre warmp up thing (revving to 3000rpm) I can hear what sounds like a hissing. The car isn\'t making any positive boost at this time, so I can only assume it\'s not the turbo spooling that I\'m hearing, but some air escaping somewhere ?? (correct me if I\'m wrong). Is this normal (the air noise, not the pre warm stage)
Where should I check first, if I even do have a boost leak? Or anyone got any other advice for me?
Much appreciated! :)
Obviously I could check the IC pipes (have a new SMIC coming this week anyway), but where are all the vac lines that I could check etc?? (pics would be best! :) )
I would check the rubber couplers (circled in pic) that join the intercooler pipes together. These are quite thin and are prone to splitting. Take these 2 couplers off, take them to your local performance shop and get them to cut some samco type hose.
I\'ve got a new intercooler coming in a few days (from someone off here) with connectors/couplings etc.
So I\'ll fit that and see if it resolves the issue.
In the mean time, is there anything else I can check?
thanks
i had the same issue and it turned out to be the connector from the Y-pipe! HTH.
Any pics of what I should be looking at and where??
The yellow circle on the left of the picture is where the Y pipe connects to the intercooler. This is where mine failed too
Nice one mate... I\'ll have a good look when I get the intercooler.
