hi can you run over 400bhp on an apexi pfc,i have seen of late that a number of people are running different ecus(motec, hks,Etc)when they have gone above this figure,if so what bhp can the apexi handle?:WaveBye
Mines running well over 400bhp and runs an apexi, pretty sure Blitzboys run\'s one too and he\'s up on 500+!

Why have the likes of james willday, warthog changed theres?i dont want to go up or past this type of figure then have to change, thanks
I think its all down to cost, the apexi is relatively cheap, and the tuners are familiar with them. The others such as Motec are going to be better but they are double the price. I would go motec if i had the dollar.:o
I might be wrong, but wasn\'t dragon using a power fc on his 800bhp drag car??

They changed to Motecs etc etc because they\'re more programable and versitle, some aren\'t running that much more bhp than me. How many horses do you want to run?
pete what mods you got now to get that figure ? take it that is fw ?
Motec is also 1000% better than the Apexi. Apexi is cheap and nasty IMHO! I only bought it at the time as I didnt have the money for a proper Motec install.

Anyone running an M2R? Would be interesting to know what the gains would be with a (rotary specific) motec, not just in power but driveability.
with this privateers comp, looks like i am going to have to up the boost past 400 bhp,are you going to gracing the strip this year pete and entering the comp for the trophy?

Dont think so,or though i could be wrong, dragon seems to be very secretive when it comes to drag cars;)
Im sure I read somewhere on here that Dragon were running an apexi.

Oh yes the drag comp!!:D I won\'t get first place so no point entering, might join in if they do a second n third place n prizes.Going to be very stiff competition on the strip this season.
Lots o Jap Fd tuners cars running WAY more than 400 on Apexi. Or at least they used to. Not saying alternatives are not better. My cars done 11k on one at 500 fly and drives sweetly smooth as it is a daily.

Cheers puts my mind at rest, just got a bit worried as i remember reading a thread awhile back where apexis couldnt cope with big bhp and with a few other people changing management systems you start to think why?:WaveBye
The banana has 465 RWBHP with an Apexi and runs fine. You get better results from the Motec and other more expensive ecus because they give better control of the fueling and other bits. More powerful computer in there as well I\'d have thought so also faster doing its stuff. I saw a Motec 300zx install and was amazed at how much more power that got than the same mods / boost with a cheaper ECU. I\'d like to give one a try on the Rex.
Another thing to concider is that the Power FC runs on standard loom, so it\'s very easy to install, Ofcourse a ECU system (with new sensors and wires and "better" ecu) will have better performance, but I think it all comes down to what you want with the car. As alot of people has said: In Japan, alot of the tuners use the Power FC on their cars, and customers cars. Because of very good performance, cheap price and extremely easy install compared to other systems.
Having recently changed from Apexi to F Con all I can say is wow;) the difference in delivery is realy marked, every passenger that has been in it has remarked at how smooth it is. I would say it was worth the extra couple of hundred pounds. Anyone running 400+on an Apexi and seeing over 20mpg..........I do:god
John, who can map the FCon ?
is it really that much smoother, like low revs on and off the throttle not bouncing around ?

As a babies bum:D bearing in mind I am 1/2 bridge I have an even tickover at 850 as you come off throttle up traffic lights revs drop to 1200 and you get the braap brap braappp for 10secs then down to 850 very civilised.
Max is a dab hand at the F-con atm the only rotary tuner that is HKS approved.
To give you an idea how smooth it is people have remarked how with the Apexi you get that aggressive urge that gives you the impression of power / speed with this you accelerate round to 8.5k 2nd, 3rd & 4th and you dont get that impression of power untill you look at the clock:2eek
So how much is it for f con i and how much to get it maped? if you dont mind me asking..
Is it just matter of taking the apexi out and put the F con in and get it mapped on standard street port or are there loads of other mods you will have to do before going on that path????:Thumbsup! Cheers

It is a straight plugin unless you want additional sensors [not bothered with this myself] I think the prices are on REworx web site unless you buy from Japan [if you do make sure you buy the 3.2 version] mapping is much the same price as the Apexi. Oh you will need the additional wiring loom, best advice would be to contact Chris / Geff. hth;)
Sorry to thread Hi-jack...... John, could you send us a pic of your car with the graphics on mate as I couldn\'t find them on FDUK!!!

I\'m trying to get a load of pics of work I have done for the new web site!!

Sounds good. :)

Thought it was a straight plug in? Sorry John but bit of a contradiction there!

The loom is a straight plug in from one to the other, no souldering ect. you can also get a navigator similar to the commander that will allow you to view boost, temps ect.
Dont exactly agree that is a contradiction anyways, might be worth looking at what is involved, it is nothing as complicated as the Motec anyway.
So its not a straight plug in then, there is a loom adapter fitted?

The loom is a lead that connects the 2 together a straight plugin
Im still interested in what kevs haltech does. Theres some serious amount of user control in some of the higher priced units.
Shaun
If an ECU can control the phsyical parts required to make a level of HP it should be OK ... yes? so theoretically there isn\'t a "limit" with any ECU, it\'s just that you won\'t get the full potential due to limitations in the resolution of the map and other factors.
Would there be a difference if you had 2 FD\'s, both decat, both with Apexi but one was the 8bit and one was the later 16bit version?
When you go over to Apexi they are both 16bit [I think] still way slower than the Motec / F-con that is what makes them more responsive to finer tuning hense smoother power delivery.
the 800bhp,9sec drag monster WAS running the apexi, was featured in banzai magazine!!

Yes, the A\'PEXi PowerFC is 16bit even when used on a 8 bit car.
Thank you both muchly for clearing that up for me - I had no idea! :o
