Title: Best places to look for FD\'s?
Post by: rotari on March 30, 2007, 02:57:48 PM
Hey Everyone,

Just recently joined the forum to help in my search for a Rex!

Wondered if anyone could suggest websites or places in general to look for them? So far I\'ve found pistonheads.com but thats about it.

After a quality example, thats not been mod\'d much - not after crazy power.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome!

Best place to look for a decent Rx7 is right here. There are some great examples for sale and generally you know the history of them since their ownership by the Forum member.

Otherwise, autotrader.co.uk, ebay, findit.co.uk

Be careful of some traders as some dont know much about these cars and try and flog a bad example for the average if not higher market rate.

Yeh I\'ve noticed this :2eek

Depends on really what I find. But anything from £5-7k. If it shows all the right signs of being cared for with no messing around (recent rebuild, few carefully selected mods, etc) then I could push over that but I think I\'m getting the hang of what a fair price is.

Just had a thought

There is a MRC member selling one on pistonheads at the minute.
Fits your discription perfect, and a rare model to boot.
Member name K1HKS ARSE, Gary. He did the some of the single turbo work and Mapping of my car.
Quality example from someone I trust, no dodgy import.

I\'m just 10 miles North of Lincoln. Whereabouts are you?

Never seen a single turbo rex, might have to meet up!

Might have another local rotary owner soon! I\'m in the outskirts of lincoln itself.

I\'m on the lookout for one now. I wanna come to the woodcocks one day, but i dont think turning up in a Peugeot 207 would go down well! haha

Looks like a fine example, bit to pricey for me. Especially after that UK Spec \'99 went for £9k :2eek

No compression test? Slight concerns over if remapped after cat-back?

You asked for the best place to buy them, which is why I responded.

The inferior UK models stopped selling in 1995, I believe. They\'ll also have been in UK winters all their lives.

Compression test requires a visit to a rotary specialist, to be done right - but can be arranged. It\'s the best condition original example you\'ll find in UK.

That was a real one off mate !!

Thats probably the cheapest 99 spec I have ever seen since being a member on this forum.

UK model is same as the Type X in Japan, which has leather, soft suspension, ugly triangle shaped SRS, Sunroof, climate control A/C, etc. But the type X is the least desirable in Japan as it\'s heavy and too "soft" compared to the others.

That\'s why I say it\'s inferior.... Plus the 12 years of UK winters, which will no doubt have taken some toll on the undersides and engine bays of UK cars to far more detriment than cars from Japan, which never see salt.

A UK spec 99\' won\'t of had much UK salt abuse. And will have all the other 99\' spec bits n bobs.

Well anyways, sorry but not for me anyways.

I\'ve found a 95\' around 32k miles, import for just over £7k. Just arrived in UK as well. I smell a bargain :) Going to take a look at condition this weekend but details say its in good nick.

sounds good mate, just cause its low mileage doesnt mean engine is in good nick still.

Would still ask for compression test to be sure.
