can anyone help... i have a rx7 on a j plate.
just had my engine rebuilt and now its come back my headlights not working... phoned them but they said nothing they had done would have corsed it. i\'ve cheaked the fuses next to the bat but there ok looked at ones in drivers foot well to. the headlights pop up and flash but don\'t come up or do anything when put headlights on. there is a switch on the dash to pop lights up and that works fine to. so i\'m a little out of ideas.
thanks Jay:god
Can I ask where you had your engine rebuilt?
sounds like the bulbs have went bud if they pop up and high beam works..
Sounds more like the switch - if they \'flash\' but don\'t come on when you turn the stalk.
Have you moved any of the connectors behind the dash?

I\'ve checked the bulbs and they look ok. but even if the bulbs had gone wouldn\'t the lights still pop up?

yes i have had a look at the connectors from the stork but they look ok there are 3 wires coming from it. 1 red, 1 green, 1 black.
its really confusing me lol plus i have to be back before it gets dark lol
soz i thought the lights still poped up..
Have a look at this - might help narrow it down.
Do the dash lights come on at all?
You have definately checked (replace anyway to be sure) the fuse that sits in the drivers footwell (middle row second fuse from the left labled G in your handbook) as mine went and I had same problems you are describing.
All else fails try conecting the wires from the stalk together to see if wiring problem or switch problem.
Let us know
Cheers
Eddie
Check the headlight relay- it could of been disturbed when the engine was being lifted out/put back in. See diagram.
Looking at the wiring digram quickly I think it\'s possible that the symptoms you describe can occur.

yes all the dash lights come on fine. all the lights work apart from the hedlights. only thing is i\'m back at work monday and don\'t know what time going to be finishing. so if its dark will have to leave car there lol:spank

they only pop up if i flash or press that switch on the dash to pop them up.

Yeah thats ma car bud :) took me ages getting her to that stage lol..
hmm its a weird one.. the popup switch is on a different circuit than the lights, so if it aint the light fuse, it must be the light handle turny on thingy :S

awh take it you know them lol:eek
Similar thing happened to me last night. Except they worked if I held the stalk back.
Ended up driving through 7 miles of country roads holding the stalk while following my mate in front :(
So it could be the switch? Is it likely that I will need to replace the switch, and if so does anyone know where I can get one from?
Thanks
Chris
