Hi,
I\'ve got a Kenwood headunit (cheapo one i think, KDC-W4534 if it makes any difference) and a Kenwood iPod adapter (so I can hide the iPod and control it all from the headunit)...
The trouble is, its really crap for quickly finding tracks I want to play...
I have a couple of hundred albums on the iPod, and say I wanted to listen to someone with a name beginning with K... I have to scroll through all the A\'s all the B\'s etc etc to get to K. I\'d have to scroll past probably about 60 artists to get to K, and each time I change artist it takes about 5 seconds, cos the adapter loads each album in each time. So it takes bloody ages to find anything.
You might think I could use playlists, but say I put all albums by artist K into a playlist... I can\'t then skip through all the K albums, I have to skip through all the tracks of those albums one by one to get to what I want..!!!!! Several hundred songs!!! But I\'d also have to put all \'A\' artists into a playlist too, and B\'s and C\'s and then I\'d have to skip past all those to get to the K playlist aaarrRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! :2Mad :2Mad
I don\'t really want to have to make detailed playlists before I go out everytime, I want to be able to skip quickly to an artist, then scroll through their albums, then scroll through those tracks... is this possible?
I know my headunit is slow at navigatng the iPod, but its bloody painful to find something out of the blue...
Could I create a folder called NoseBleedTechno, then copy all nosebleedtechno artists into it (you think I\'m joking right :P ), and still be able to skip to the 4th track of the 6th album by the 3rd atrist, or would I have to wade through all 300 songs one at a time...
pleeease help, it must be better than this!!!
:god :god :Grrr :Grrr
I though the iPod adapter (I\'m assuming KCA 500) allowed you to have folders and sub folders - so you could arrange the files as Artist / Album and navigate that way - not sure, as I just use playlists.

seems some guy figured a way of doing it.

If it\'s any consolation, the Alpine H/U with Alpine iPod adapter is also dog slow. Supposedly, if you want faster iPod interaction, you need a H/U or adapter that\'s labelled "full-speed". I think this may be because a lot of iPod adapters are (ab)using the CD changer interface which is probably not fast enough.
The Alpine H/U I\'m planning to put into my FD has two connectors, one for the CD changer and an additional, separate iPod interface. It\'s also supposed to be full speed so it\'ll be interesting to know how well it works.
That correct, most of them use the CD-Changer Bus which was only ever really designed to show the odd track name through CD-Text. I have an Alpine one running through a media centre (flip out screen) which is pretty good as it displays a lot more lines at a time, still slow at searching through though. Although it\'s not been in the car since the new turbo as I couldnt hear it anyway!
Actually, yeah, mines uses the CD multichanger interface too :(
