Title: need help any ideas????
Post by: stuart wizy on March 29, 2007, 04:34:44 PM
rebuilt my fd ages ago, only put it back in the car a couple of weeks ago.
It will idle perfectly with good compresion and a strong vacum reading. on the driveway it will rev up to the red line of boost, problem is when engine is under load it wont rev over 3500 revs, its just cuts out back down to idle.
checks ive done so far are as follows:-

changed cat
checked map sensor
tried different ecu
checked fuel pressure
cleaned plugs
checked for bad earth on block ie weak spark.
the lambda wire has seen better days and actually broke of the lambda plug when i touched it, but it as been conected through out the problems.
The only thing i can think of, is that ive got the 2 crank angle position plugs conected the wrong way round as I seem to remember each plug could go on either sensor.
I spoke to matt rx motors the other day advising me that something is causing an error code causing the ecu to go into limp mode all the time.
can anyone help me please because this is really pi@@ing me of, The cars not registered  but I was hoping do a load of track days this season in it.
I need to get it sorted sharpish because I booked elvington next month!!
any help would be much apreciated
cheers

Hi  sorry to hear about your problems,

mine has been doing exactly the same thing ever since i left it sitting for a week while on hols! If I change down a gear to bounce the revs past the 3500 mark i can get boost on the first turbo until about 4600rpm then it cuts out again.

Leaving the car sitting again for a few days solved the problem for a while but it has started again.

Only difference with mine is that when the problem exists the digital odemeter display disappears, when its running ok the odo works fine???? so strange and annoying!!!

Please post if you find a solution as I continue searching...

Cheers

checked all codes and found no errors.
ive been scratching my head for 3 weeks over this one, checked almost everything possible!!
Today I found my power stearing belt was a little tight so I took of the belt completely to try without power stearing pump.
god knows how but this was the problem! car now boosts to .5bar on first turbo and .5 bar on 2nd turbo all the way through the rev range with the belt of.
I thought the belt must of been to tight  causing vibration throwing the knock sensor to sense knock or is there a sensor on the power stearing pump that can send ecu into limp mode?
well chuffed now I know what it is!
