Title: Why are the doors noisey ?
Post by: Jim_rx7 on March 28, 2007, 08:21:32 PM
Curious as to why the doors on the FD sound like that of a transit van when you shut them! ... lol

I\'ve heard they can be hard to shut on these cars, but why?

Air pressure.  For some reason the FD is not very good at venting the pressure quick enough from closing a door.

I open my door when my girlfriend has to close the boot as this means she doesn\'t try and slam it with all her force, prompting a telling off from me.

Also, I\'ve heard that the door aligning slips over time and needs re-adjusting which doesn\'t help.

The whole air pressure thing.... I take it that\'s why the sunroof moves when I slam my door shut?

Just doesn\'t sound good getting out a flash car when the door sounds like a transit van!! lol

Lol  have had a moan at that before myself! :rollin

Told a mate you have to give the door a firm shut else it will not close properly.  So gives it a good slam but seems to try and shut it further than it will go - result = broken door handle!

Open the window a tad eh :yes

Get some foam wadding and some sound deadening on the inner door...sounds clunky with a nice thump rather than a clang now :)

Try this, Take the Door pad off if you look at the Back of the door skin you\'ll see a bar thats 3" wide that runs the lenth of the door, these are suposed to be bonded to the Door skin but tend to come loose over time and ratle when you shut the door, what you want to do is pump a bit of Sikaflex behind the bar (between the bar and the Door skin so your bonding the Bar to the door again) this will make the door sound alot Quiter.

Unfortunatly there is little you can do about the sunroof moving when you slam the door, as its already been said thats air pressure and nothing to be worried about.

I packed out my door bar, now sounds nice and solid when you shut it.
