Title: Temp gauge fitting
Post by: hugo on March 28, 2007, 04:46:18 PM
I have bought an oil temperature gauge and a water temperature gauge as recommended by people on this site to keep an eye on the motor. I am planning to use a greedy sandwich plate for the oil temp. However I have got a “T” piece that you insert into the top hose and the sensor screws into the middle. The gauge is electrical and I am not sure how to wire it as presumably you have to earth the sensor as well. This would normally be done through the engine earth however how dose it earth when the sensor is insulated by the top hose?
Any help please,

Hugo

Well I\'ve just bought a water temp, oil temp and oil pressure gauge.

They came with senders etc (so they say). I havn\'t a clue how to fit them, but I\'m getting my garage to do it next month.

For Water Temp, I drilled and tapped the thermostat housing along the lines of what was described on Rob Robinette\'s site.

For Oil Temp, I got a replacement sump plug which had an inner thread suitable for the Greddy sensor.

Not the ideal places in the opinion of some purists and experts, but they work fine for me :-)
