I dont have the expertise or knowledge or time for building an install thus want to buy one but all the ones i see seem massive. I already bought the speaker b4 buying the box as didn\'t anticipate this problem.

Can anyone recommend a box?

By the way this is a FD i am talking about

Better to make one to be honest. Some of the pre-made ones will fit though.

My advise would be to make one too! most of the pre-made boxes are way too big and dont need to be. There are some sites on the net which will calculate the size ranges for your box or if u know a bit u can do it with the values on the spec sheet of the sub (some knowledge of maths normally helps). Im putting 3 x 12s and 2 huge amps in the back of mine and they all fit so you shouldn\'t really have a problem!

You could fibreglass a box into the spare wheel well.

How the heck do you get 3 12\'s in the boot of a 7 ??? I had 3 in an ax but the boot was nice and square and my subs worked at 0.75cuft !

well, 2 of my mates are sound crazy and wanted to attack my rex so we done a mock up and everything fit, will post pics up once its finished (or started even LOL)

Making one seems like a massive amount of work. I dont mind the putting boxing up the wood and carpeting it. That part I "THINK" is easy. Its the sawing and cutting out a perfect circle which worries me. How do I even start without power tools?!:2Confused

Curiously how do I get power to the boot? Can I use my existing amp power cable to bridge on to other things?

i can make you a fiberglass mould and make you a box if ya like bud..

Where do you want it in the boot bud? iv made them before, not for the rex tho lol. take me about a week, probly less :) cus iv got good at it lol

whereever. So long it looks/sounds nice and I have *some* boot space.amp is mounted dead centre on the back of rear seats more or less. So probably best somewhere kind of central though I can always have it to one side. But I would\'ve thought centre would be best for sound as well as weight distribution.

If I go for 2 i\'d have to rewire and buy another amp. :(

You can mount a bass box in the wheel well without stuffing up the rest of the boot

This gives almost exactly 55 litres without intruding into the boot, which is perfect for these darn 10" guns... *GRIN*

one 12 " sub woofer. I am not bothered where you put them. So long as it looks neat that\'d be great. As I mentioned amp is mounted at the back of rear seats pretty much in the middle.

I would\'ve thought anywhere towards the back of the rear seats would be great.

O, and preferably under parcel shelf so its concealed is most important

im wanting the hole boot made into a ice, have the design im aiming for, jus need the speakers lol.. it`ll be a full on fiberglass build tho so curves galore :D

ok.. i played about today with a few idears, not knowing the depth of the sub it was kinda hard, id say with tho`s sizes your best bet is to remove the amp and have your speaker there.. a 12" speaker sits kinda weird as the only other place it cn go is the left side  just before the jack, like archbish.

worried about leaving holes everywhere if i remove it. Its hard to visualise what your idea is without seeing it. Anyhow we still have no price from interlopper :)

Assuming it goes in centre and I remove amp (not sure where i\'d put it but hey!). Let me know..

i was thinking a back build so it would cover the whole back seat but blend into the sides also, with your huge sub in the middle, always the option to cut a few more holes for smaller speakers if you wanted..

sits where your amp in the noo, facing the rear window bud, i reckon around 80-100 for the finished item, alot of work involved but will look ace :)

ok m8 have a better idear for you, it you want to keep the parcel shelf, how about i make a mould of the parcel shelf, flush the top, and bond in a curved speaker surround aiming at a angle out the rear window/or front.. this way you cn see your speaker from outside the car :) reckon this will be far better for ya bud.. with the boot shut and the shelf down, not alot of room.. let me know n throw a few idears up for ya..

The best way to get power into the boot is to find one of the existing grommets that gives access to the engine bay through the firewall  - not usually a good idea to drill your own!! After that get some heavy duty cable (u can calculate what specs you need from tables on the net) and an in-line fuse. Put the fuse as close to the battery as possible, then feed the cable through the firewall, under the interior trim and into the boot - -hey presto...VE HAFF POWER! lol

The best grommit for the job is the one thats behind the innner wheel arch, its nice and big :D

An average sub amp usually needs about 4AWG Cable too.

true but that is advertising a sub with a flash install to theives. I have had bad luck in the past with car theft so not prepared to risk it - Let me think about it,..unless you come up with another idea :)

Yup  I aready have cabling and stuff all done - just need a box/enclosure for sub speaker I am inkling to put in.

i dont know if im too late joining in here but i may have another idea for you. i will post some pics of my install tomorrow.

i wanted to have the best of both worlds- showing off and stealth! un-usual combination i know but it works very well.

i have a 12" sub housed in custom box designed and built to correct volume
to fit under the height of the parcel shelf (not an easy task believe me!) with the amp fixed to the box.

Stealth -
Allows for original shelf to be fitted for everyday use and to keep thieving chavs at bay!

Showing off -
i then costructed a two piece cover for the entire boot. these sit on top of the box, the top section surrounds the sub which is the same shape as the parcel shelf raised section. the lower piece covers the remaining boot area. i covered these with black vinyl material over foam padding to match the rear seat upholstery. And I still have room underneath for crap!

GOOD news is pioneer now make a flat 12" SUBWOOFER for flat/shallow boots! RARE but awesome.  Good brand and looks/sounds the bUsInEsS - pricey though and rare. pioneer TS-SW3041D <- check them out! they do come in a pioneer enclosed box too but its v.v.v hard to come by.
